2 Kings 25:24-26
New International Version
24 Gedaliah took an oath to reassure them and their men. “Do not be afraid of the Babylonian officials,” he said. “Settle down in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it will go well with you.”
25 In the seventh month, however, Ishmael son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, who was of royal blood, came with ten men and assassinated(A) Gedaliah and also the men of Judah and the Babylonians who were with him at Mizpah.(B) 26 At this, all the people from the least to the greatest, together with the army officers, fled to Egypt(C) for fear of the Babylonians.

24 Ghedalia le-a jurat, lor şi oamenilor lor, şi le-a zis: „Să nu vă temeţi de nimic din partea slujitorilor haldeenilor; rămâneţi în ţară, slujiţi împăratului Babilonului, şi o veţi duce bine.” 25 Dar, în luna(A) a şaptea, Ismael, fiul lui Netania, fiul lui Elişama, din neamul împărătesc, a venit, însoţit de zece oameni, şi au lovit de moarte pe Ghedalia, ca şi pe iudeii şi haldeenii care erau cu el la Miţpa. 26 Atunci, tot poporul, de la cel mai mic până la cel mai mare, şi căpeteniile oştilor s-au sculat şi au plecat în(B) Egipt, pentru că le era frică de haldeeni.
