Why Israel Fell
7 This disaster happened because the people of Israel sinned against the Lord their God who had brought them out of the land of Egypt from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt(A) and because they worshiped[a] other gods.(B) 8 They lived according to the customs of the nations that the Lord had dispossessed before the Israelites(C) and according to what the kings of Israel did.(D)

Israel Exiled Because of Sin
7 All this took place because the Israelites had sinned(A) against the Lord their God, who had brought them up out of Egypt(B) from under the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt. They worshiped other gods 8 and followed the practices of the nations(C) the Lord had driven out before them, as well as the practices that the kings of Israel had introduced.

7 For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the Lord their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,
8 And walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the Lord cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made.
