²³ But the Lord was ^(A)gracious to them, had compassion on them, and ^(B)regarded them, ^(C)because of His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not yet destroy them or cast them from His presence.

^27 (A)And the Lord did not say that He would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven; but He saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.

²⁴ So God ^(A)heard their groaning, and God ^(B)remembered His ^(C)covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. ²⁵ And God ^(D)looked upon the children of Israel, and God ^(E)acknowledged them.

¹⁶ And ^(A)I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth; so that if a man could number the dust of the earth, then your descendants also could be numbered. ¹⁷ Arise, walk in the land through its length and its width, for I give it to you.”

²⁰ For because of the anger of the Lord this happened in Jerusalem and Judah, that He finally cast them out from His presence. ^(A)Then Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

¹⁸ Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel, and removed them from His sight; there was none left ^(A)but the tribe of Judah alone.
