¹⁴ She looked and there was the king, standing by the pillar,^(A) as the custom was. The officers and the trumpeters were beside the king, and all the people of the land were rejoicing and blowing trumpets.^(B) Then Athaliah tore^(C) her robes and called out, “Treason! Treason!”^(D)

¹⁵ Jehoiada the priest ordered the commanders of units of a hundred, who were in charge of the troops: “Bring her out between the ranks^[a] and put to the sword anyone who follows her.” For the priest had said, “She must not be put to death in the temple^(E) of the Lord.” ¹⁶ So they seized her as she reached the place where the horses enter^(F) the palace grounds, and there she was put to death.^(G)

¹¹ King David dedicated these articles to the Lord, as he had done with the silver and gold he had taken from all these nations: Edom^(A) and Moab, the Ammonites and the Philistines, and Amalek.^(B)

¹² Abishai son of Zeruiah struck down eighteen thousand Edomites^(C) in the Valley of Salt. ¹³ He put garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became subject to David. The Lord gave David victory wherever he went.
