¹³ Then in haste ^(A)every man of them took his garment and put it under him on the bare^[a] steps, and they blew the trumpet and proclaimed, ^(B)“Jehu is king.”

⁷ And they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on it, and he sat on it. ⁸ And many ^(A)spread their cloaks on the road, and others spread leafy branches that they had cut from the fields.

³⁹ There Zadok the priest took the horn of ^(A)oil from the tent and ^(B)anointed Solomon. ^(C)Then they blew the trumpet, and all the people said, ^(D)“Long live King Solomon!”

³⁴ And let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet there ^(A)anoint him king over Israel. ^(B)Then blow the trumpet and say, ^(C)‘Long live King Solomon!’

⁷ They brought the donkey and the colt and put on them their cloaks, and he sat on them. ⁸ Most of the crowd ^(A)spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.

¹⁰ But Absalom sent secret messengers throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, “As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then say, ‘Absalom is king at Hebron!’”
