²⁹ Then ^(A)King Joram went back to Jezreel to recover from the wounds which the Syrians had inflicted on him at ^[a]Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. ^(B)And Ahaziah the son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.

¹⁵ But ^(A)King ^[a]Joram had returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds which the Syrians had inflicted on him when he fought with Hazael king of Syria.) And Jehu said, “If you are so minded, let no one leave or escape from the city to go and tell it in Jezreel.” ¹⁶ So Jehu rode in a chariot and went to Jezreel, for Joram was laid up there; ^(B)and Ahaziah king of Judah had come down to see Joram.

⁵ He also followed their advice, and went with ^[a]Jehoram the son of Ahab king of Israel to war against Hazael king of Syria at Ramoth Gilead; and the Syrians wounded Joram. ^6 (A)Then he returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds which he had received at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. And ^[b]Azariah the son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to see Jehoram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.

⁷ His going to Joram ^(B)was God’s occasion for Ahaziah’s ^[c]downfall; for when he arrived, ^(C)he went out with ^[d]Jehoram against Jehu the son of Nimshi, ^(D)whom the Lord had anointed to ^[e]cut off the house of Ahab.

²⁸ Now he went ^(A)with Joram the son of Ahab to war against Hazael king of Syria at ^(B)Ramoth Gilead; and the Syrians wounded Joram.

³⁴ Now a certain man drew a bow at random, and struck the king of Israel between the joints of his armor. So he said to the driver of his chariot, “Turn around and take me out of the battle, for I am wounded.”
