¹³ Hazael said, “How could your servant, a mere dog,^(A) accomplish such a feat?”

“The Lord has shown me that you will become king^(B) of Aram,” answered Elisha.

¹⁵ The Lord said to him, “Go back the way you came, and go to the Desert of Damascus. When you get there, anoint Hazael^(A) king over Aram.

⁴³ He said to David, “Am I a dog,^(A) that you come at me with sticks?” And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.

⁸ Mephibosheth^(A) bowed down and said, “What is your servant, that you should notice a dead dog^(B) like me?”

¹⁵ Outside^(A) are the dogs,^(B) those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

² Watch out for those dogs,^(A) those evildoers, those mutilators of the flesh.

³³ Peter replied, “Even if all fall away on account of you, I never will.”

³⁴ “Truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “this very night, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.”^(A)

³⁵ But Peter declared, “Even if I have to die with you,^(B) I will never disown you.” And all the other disciples said the same.

⁶ “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.
