⁵ At dusk they got up and went to the camp of the Arameans. When they reached the edge of the camp, no one was there,

⁷ The Lord will grant that the enemies^(A) who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven.^(B)

¹² “The prince among them will put his things on his shoulder at dusk^(A) and leave, and a hole will be dug in the wall for him to go through. He will cover his face so that he cannot see the land.^(B)

⁶ Put them on your shoulder as they are watching and carry them out at dusk. Cover your face so that you cannot see the land, for I have made you a sign^(A) to the Israelites.”

⁷ So I did as I was commanded.^(B) During the day I brought out my things packed for exile. Then in the evening I dug through the wall with my hands. I took my belongings out at dusk, carrying them on my shoulders while they watched.

¹⁷ David fought^(A) them from dusk until the evening of the next day, and none of them got away, except four hundred young men who rode off on camels and fled.^(B)

²⁶ “‘No one, however, may dedicate the firstborn of an animal, since the firstborn already belongs to the Lord;^(A) whether an ox^[a] or a sheep, it is the Lord’s.

⁸ If anyone making the vow is too poor to pay^(A) the specified amount, the person being dedicated is to be presented to the priest, who will set the value^(B) according to what the one making the vow can afford.
