⁵ So they arose at twilight to go to the camp of the Syrians. But when they came to the edge of the camp of the Syrians, behold, there was no one there.

⁷ “The Lord ^(A)will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before you. They shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.

^12 (A)And the prince who is among them shall lift his baggage upon his shoulder at dusk, and shall go out. ^(B)They shall dig through the wall to bring him out through it. ^(C)He shall cover his face, that he may not see the land with his eyes.

⁶ In their sight you shall lift the baggage upon your shoulder and carry it out at dusk. You shall cover your face that you may not see the land, for I have made you ^(A)a sign for the house of Israel.”

^7 (B)And I did as I was commanded. ^(C)I brought out my baggage by day, as baggage for exile, and in the evening I dug through the wall with my own hands. I brought out my baggage at dusk, carrying it on my shoulder in their sight.

¹⁷ And David struck them down from twilight until the evening of the next day, and not a man of them escaped, except four hundred young men, who mounted camels and fled.

²⁶ “But a ^(A)firstborn of animals, which as a firstborn belongs to the Lord, no man may dedicate; whether ox or sheep, it is the Lord's.

⁸ And if someone is too poor to pay the valuation, then he shall be made to stand before the priest, and the priest shall value him; the priest shall value him according to what the vower can afford.
