² Then the captain on whose hand the king leaned said to the man of God, “Even if the Lord were to make windows in the sky, could such a thing happen?” But he said, “You shall see it with your own eyes, but you shall not eat from it.”^(A)

¹⁰ Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in my house, and thus put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts; see if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you an overflowing blessing.^(A)

¹¹ In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep burst forth, and the windows of the heavens were opened.^(A)

¹⁸ But may the Lord pardon your servant on one count: when my master goes into the house of Rimmon to worship there, leaning on my arm, and I bow down in the house of Rimmon, when I do bow down in the house of Rimmon, may the Lord pardon your servant on this one count.”^(A)

³ What if some were unfaithful? Will their faithlessness nullify the faithfulness of God?^(A)

¹² So Sarah laughed to herself, saying, “After I have grown old, and my husband is old, shall I be fruitful?”^{(A) 13} The Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Shall I indeed bear a child, now that I am old?’ ¹⁴ Is anything too wonderful for the Lord? At the set time I will return to you, in due season, and Sarah shall have a son.”^(B)

¹⁷ And with whom was he angry forty years? Was it not those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?^{(A) 18} And to whom did he swear that they would not enter his rest, if not to those who were disobedient?^{(B) 19} So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief.^(C)
