⁹ So Naaman went with his horses and chariots and stopped at the door of Elisha’s house.

³⁷ But Paul said to the officers: “They beat us publicly without a trial, even though we are Roman citizens,^(A) and threw us into prison. And now do they want to get rid of us quietly? No! Let them come themselves and escort us out.”

³⁸ The officers reported this to the magistrates, and when they heard that Paul and Silas were Roman citizens, they were alarmed.^{(B) 39} They came to appease them and escorted them from the prison, requesting them to leave the city.^(C)

²⁹ The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas.^{(A) 30} He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”^(B)

³² Now Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders^(A) were sitting with him. The king sent a messenger ahead, but before he arrived, Elisha said to the elders, “Don’t you see how this murderer^(B) is sending someone to cut off my head?^(C) Look, when the messenger comes, shut the door and hold it shut against him. Is not the sound of his master’s footsteps behind him?”

¹² Jehoshaphat said, “The word^(A) of the Lord is with him.” So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.
