^20 (A)Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, “See, my master has spared this Naaman the Syrian, in not accepting from his hand what he brought. ^(B)As the Lord lives, I will run after him and get something from him.”

¹² And he said to ^(A)Gehazi his servant, “Call this Shunammite.” When he had called her, she stood before him.

^7 (A)“You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.

³¹ and he said, ^(A)“May God do so to me and more also, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat remains on his shoulders today.”

³⁶ Then he summoned Gehazi and said, “Call this Shunammite.” So he called her. And when she came to him, he said, “Pick up your son.”

³¹ Gehazi went on ahead and laid the staff on the face of the child, but there was no sound or sign of life. Therefore he returned to meet him and told him, “The child ^(A)has not awakened.”

¹⁴ They have eyes full of adultery,^{[a] (A)}insatiable for sin. They entice unsteady souls. They have hearts ^(B)trained in greed. ^(C)Accursed children! ¹⁵ Forsaking the right way, ^(D)they have gone astray. They have followed ^(E)the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved ^(F)gain from wrongdoing,

^2 (A)shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight,^{[a] (B)}not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you;^{[b] (C)}not for shameful gain, but eagerly;

⁷ For an overseer,^{[a] (A)}as God's steward, must be above reproach. He must not ^(B)be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent ^(C)or greedy for gain,

¹⁰ For ^(A)Demas, ^(B)in love with ^(C)this present world, ^(D)has deserted me and gone to Thessalonica. Crescens has gone to Galatia,^{[a] (E)}Titus to Dalmatia.
