² And the Syrians had gone out ^(A)on^[a] raids, and had brought back captive a young girl from the land of Israel. She ^[b]waited on Naaman’s wife.

²³ Then he prepared a great feast for them; and after they ate and drank, he sent them away and they went to their master. So ^(A)the bands of Syrian raiders came no more into the land of Israel.

²⁰ Then Elisha ^[a]died, and they buried him. And the ^(A)raiding bands from Moab invaded the land in the spring of the year.

¹⁷ Then raiders came out of the camp of the Philistines in three companies. One company turned onto the road to ^(A)Ophrah, to the land of Shual, ¹⁸ another company turned to the road to ^(B)Beth Horon, and another company turned to the road of the border that overlooks the Valley of ^(C)Zeboim toward the wilderness.

³⁴ So Abimelech and all the people who were with him rose by night, and ^[a]lay in wait against Shechem in four companies.
