Elisha Raises the Shunammite’s Son^(A)

⁸ Now it happened one day that Elisha went to ^(B)Shunem, where there was a ^[a]notable woman, and she ^[b]persuaded him to eat some food. So it was, as often as he passed by, he would turn in there to eat some food.

¹⁸ And their territory went to Jezreel, and included Chesulloth, Shunem,

²⁹ But ^(A)they constrained Him, saying, ^(B)“Abide with us, for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent.” And He went in to stay with them.

³ Also, his possessions were seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred female donkeys, and a very large household, so that this man was the greatest of all the ^[a]people of the East.

¹¹ And it happened one day that he came there, and he turned in to the upper room and lay down there. ¹² Then he said to ^(A)Gehazi his servant, “Call this Shunammite woman.” When he had called her, she stood before him.

³ But he insisted strongly; so they turned in to him and entered his house. ^(A)Then he made them a feast, and baked ^(B)unleavened bread, and they ate.

³ So they sought for a lovely young woman throughout all the territory of Israel, and found ^(A)Abishag the ^(B)Shunammite, and brought her to the king.

³² Now Barzillai was a very aged man, eighty years old. And ^(A)he had provided the king with supplies while he stayed at Mahanaim, for he was a very rich man.

²⁰ And the old man said, ^(A)“Peace be with you! However, let all your needs be my responsibility; ^(B)only do not spend the night in the open square.”
