² He did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, though not like his father and mother, for he removed the pillar of Baal that his father had made.^(A)

²⁶ They brought out the pillar^[a] that was in the temple of Baal and burned it.^{(A) 27} Then they demolished the pillar of Baal and destroyed the temple of Baal and made it a latrine to this day.^(B)

²⁸ Thus Jehu wiped out Baal from Israel.

¹⁸ Then Jehu assembled all the people and said to them, “Ahab offered Baal small service, but Jehu will offer much more.^(A)

²⁵ (Indeed, there was no one like Ahab, who sold himself to do what was evil in the sight of the Lord, urged on by his wife Jezebel.

²⁴ you shall not bow down to their gods or serve them or follow their practices, but you shall utterly demolish them and break their pillars in pieces.^(A)

²⁰ He did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, as his father Manasseh had done.^(A)

⁶ He made his son pass through fire; he practiced soothsaying and augury and dealt with mediums and with wizards. He did much evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking him to anger.^(A)

³⁴ Then he went in and ate and drank; he said, “See to that cursed woman and bury her, for she is a king’s daughter.”^(A)

²² When Joram saw Jehu, he said, “Is it peace, Jehu?” He answered, “What peace can there be, so long as the many prostitutions^[a] and sorceries of your mother Jezebel continue?”^(A)

³¹ and he said, “So may God do to me and more, if the head of Elisha son of Shaphat stays on his shoulders today.”^{(A) 32} So he dispatched a man from his presence.

Now Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. Before the messenger arrived, Elisha said to the elders, “Are you aware that this murderer has sent someone to take off my head? When the messenger comes, see that you shut the door and hold it closed against him. Is not the sound of his master’s feet behind him?”^(B)
