Jehoiachin Released from Prison

^27 (A)And in the thirty-seventh year of ^(B)the exile of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, Evil-merodach king of Babylon, in the year that he began to reign, graciously ^(C)freed^[a] Jehoiachin king of Judah from prison.

Jehoiachin Released from Prison

^31 (A)And in the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-fifth day of the month, Evil-merodach king of Babylon, in the year that he began to reign, graciously freed^{[a] (B)}Jehoiachin king of Judah and brought him out of prison. ³² And he spoke kindly to him and gave him a seat above the seats of ^(C)the kings who were with him in Babylon. ³³ So Jehoiachin put off his prison garments. And every day of his life he dined regularly at the king's table, ³⁴ and for his allowance, a regular allowance was given him by the king, according to his daily needs, until the day of his death, as long as he lived.

²⁰ On the third day, which was Pharaoh's ^(A)birthday, he made a feast for all his servants and ^(B)lifted up the head of the chief cupbearer and the head of the chief baker among his servants.

^12 (A)and Jehoiachin the king of Judah gave himself up to the king of Babylon, himself and his mother and his servants and his officials and his palace officials. ^(B)The king of Babylon took him prisoner ^(C)in the eighth year of his reign

¹³ In three days Pharaoh will ^(A)lift up your head and restore you to your office, and you shall place Pharaoh's cup in his hand as formerly, when you were his cupbearer.

^15 (A)And he carried away Jehoiachin to Babylon. The king's mother, the king's wives, his officials, and the chief men of the land he took into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon.

⁵ “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Like these good figs, so I will regard as good the exiles from Judah, ^(A)whom I have sent away from this place to the land of the Chaldeans. ^6 (B)I will set my eyes on them for good, and I will bring them back to this land. ^(C)I will build them up, and not tear them down; ^(D)I will plant them, and not pluck them up.
