¹¹ Nebuzaradan the commander of the guard carried into exile^(A) the people who remained in the city, along with the rest of the populace and those who had deserted to the king of Babylon.^(B)

¹⁵ I will disperse you among the nations and scatter^(A) you through the countries; and I will put an end to^(B) your uncleanness.^{(C) 16} When you have been defiled^[a] in the eyes of the nations, you will know that I am the Lord.’”

¹⁵ “They will know that I am the Lord, when I disperse them among the nations^(A) and scatter them through the countries. ¹⁶ But I will spare a few of them from the sword, famine and plague, so that in the nations where they go they may acknowledge all their detestable practices. Then they will know that I am the Lord.^(B)”

² When the days of your siege come to an end, burn^(A) a third^(B) of the hair inside the city. Take a third and strike it with the sword all around the city. And scatter a third to the wind.^(C) For I will pursue them with drawn sword.^(D)

¹² On the tenth day of the fifth^(A) month, in the nineteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, Nebuzaradan^(B) commander of the imperial guard, who served the king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem.

⁹ Nebuzaradan commander of the imperial guard carried into exile to Babylon the people who remained in the city, along with those who had gone over to him,^(A) and the rest of the people.^(B)

15 Then the Lord said to me: “Even if Moses^(A) and Samuel^(B) were to stand before me, my heart would not go out to this people.^(C) Send them away from my presence!^(D) Let them go! ² And if they ask you, ‘Where shall we go?’ tell them, ‘This is what the Lord says:

²⁰ He carried into exile^(A) to Babylon the remnant, who escaped from the sword, and they became servants^(B) to him and his successors until the kingdom of Persia came to power.
