^2 (A)And the Lord sent against him raiding ^[a]bands of Chaldeans, bands of Syrians, bands of Moabites, and bands of the people of Ammon; He sent them against Judah to destroy it, ^(B)according to the word of the Lord which He had spoken by His servants the prophets.

¹¹ But it came to pass, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up into the land, that we said, ‘Come, let us ^(A)go to Jerusalem for fear of the army of the Chaldeans and for fear of the army of the Syrians.’ So we dwell at Jerusalem.”

²⁷ And the Lord said, “I will also remove Judah from My sight, as ^(A)I have removed Israel, and will cast off this city Jerusalem which I have chosen, and the house of which I said, ^(B)‘My name shall be there.’ ”

²⁸ Therefore thus says the Lord: ‘Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he shall take it.

⁹ behold, I will send and take ^(A)all the families of the north,’ says the Lord, ‘and Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, ^(B)My servant, and will bring them against this land, against its inhabitants, and against these nations all around, and will utterly destroy them, and ^(C)make them an astonishment, a hissing, and perpetual desolations.

¹² therefore thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘Behold, I am bringing such calamity upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whoever hears of it, both ^(A)his ears will tingle. ¹³ And I will stretch over Jerusalem ^(B)the measuring line of Samaria and the plummet of the house of Ahab; ^(C)I will wipe Jerusalem as one wipes a dish, wiping it and turning it upside down. ¹⁴ So I will forsake the ^(D)remnant of My inheritance and deliver them into the hand of their enemies; and they shall become victims of plunder to all their enemies,

¹⁷ ‘Behold, the days are coming when all that is in your house, and what your fathers have accumulated until this day, ^(A)shall be carried to Babylon; nothing shall be left,’ says the Lord.

²³ Then he prepared a great feast for them; and after they ate and drank, he sent them away and they went to their master. So ^(A)the bands of Syrian raiders came no more into the land of Israel.
