⁵ And he deposed the priests whom the kings of Judah had ordained to make offerings in the high places at the cities of Judah and around Jerusalem; those also who burned incense to Baal, to the sun and the moon and the constellations ^(A)and all the host of the heavens.

^17 (A)But we will do everything that we have vowed, make offerings to ^(B)the queen of heaven ^(C)and pour out drink offerings to her, ^(D)as we did, both we and our fathers, our kings and our officials, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. For then we had plenty of food, and prospered, and saw no disaster. ¹⁸ But since we left off making offerings to ^(E)the queen of heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have lacked everything ^(F)and have been consumed by the sword and by famine.” ¹⁹ And the women said,^[a] “When we made offerings to the queen of heaven ^(G)and poured out drink offerings to her, was it ^(H)without our husbands' approval that we made cakes for her bearing her image and poured out drink offerings to her?”

³ For he rebuilt the high places ^(A)that Hezekiah his father had destroyed, and he erected altars for Baal and made ^(B)an Asherah, ^(C)as Ahab king of Israel had done, ^(D)and worshiped all the host of heaven and served them. ^4 (E)And he built altars in the house of the Lord, of which the Lord had said, ^(F)“In Jerusalem will I put my name.”

8 “At that time, declares the Lord, the bones of the kings of Judah, the bones of its officials, the bones of the priests, the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be brought out of their tombs. ² And they shall be spread ^(A)before the sun and the moon and all the host of heaven, which they have loved and served, which they have gone after, and which they have sought and worshiped. ^(B)And they shall not be gathered or buried. ^(C)They shall be as dung on the surface of the ground.
