Jehoiakim Reigns in Judah^(A)

³⁵ So Jehoiakim gave ^(B)the silver and gold to Pharaoh; but he taxed the land to give money according to the command of Pharaoh; he exacted the silver and gold from the people of the land, from every one according to his assessment, to give it to Pharaoh Necho.

³³ Now Pharaoh Necho put him in prison ^(A)at Riblah in the land of Hamath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem; and he imposed on the land a tribute of one hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.

^19 (A)Pul^[a] king of Assyria came against the land; and Menahem gave Pul a thousand talents of silver, that his ^[b]hand might be with him to ^(B)strengthen the kingdom under his control. ²⁰ And Menahem ^(C)exacted^[c] the money from Israel, from all the very wealthy, from each man fifty shekels of silver, to give to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria turned back, and did not stay there in the land.
