⁴ Then Elijah said to him, “Elisha, stay here, please, for the Lord has sent me on to Jericho.”

But he said, “As the Lord lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you!” So they came to Jericho.

² Then Elijah said to Elisha, ^(A)“Stay here, please, for the Lord has sent me on to Bethel.”

But Elisha said, “As the Lord lives, and ^(B)as your soul lives, I will not leave you!” So they went down to Bethel.

²⁶ Then Joshua ^[a]charged them at that time, saying, ^(A)“Cursed be the man before the Lord who rises up and builds this city Jericho; he shall lay its foundation with his firstborn, and with his youngest he shall set up its gates.”

Jesus Comes to Zacchaeus’ House

19 Then Jesus entered and passed through ^(A)Jericho.

³⁰ And the mother of the child said, ^(A)“As the Lord lives, and as your soul lives, I will not ^(B)leave you.” So he arose and followed her.

³⁴ In his days Hiel of Bethel built Jericho. He laid its foundation ^[a]with Abiram his firstborn, and with his youngest son Segub he set up its gates, ^(A)according to the word of the Lord, which He had spoken through Joshua the son of Nun.

²³ When he came and had seen the grace of God, he was glad, and ^(A)encouraged them all that with purpose of heart they should continue with the Lord.

^42 (A)And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ ^[a]doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.
