¹² And Elisha saw it and he cried, “My father, my father! ^(A)The chariots of Israel and its horsemen!” And he saw him no more.

Then he took hold of his own clothes ^(B)and tore them in two pieces.

The Death of Elisha

¹⁴ Now when Elisha had fallen sick with the illness of which he was to die, Joash king of Israel went down to him and wept before him, crying, ^(A)“My father, my father! The chariots of Israel and its horsemen!”

¹² Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, ^(A)“Come up here!” And ^(B)they went up to heaven ^(C)in a cloud, and their enemies watched them.

⁸ Therefore it says,

⁴ For while we are still in this tent, we groan, being burdened—not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal ^(A)may be swallowed up by life.

² For in this tent ^(A)we groan, longing to ^(B)put on our heavenly dwelling,

² Devout men buried Stephen and made great lamentation over him.

⁹ And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, ^(A)he was lifted up, and ^(B)a cloud took him out of their sight.

^13 (A)No one has ^(B)ascended into heaven except ^(C)he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man.^[a]

⁵¹ While he blessed them, ^(A)he parted from them and was carried up into heaven.
