¹² Have the gods of the nations delivered them, the nations that my predecessors destroyed: Gozan, Haran, Rezeph, and the people of Eden who were in Telassar?^(A)

⁶ In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria captured Samaria; he carried the Israelites away to Assyria. He placed them in Halah, on the Habor, the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.^(A)

²³ Haran, Canneh, Eden, the merchants of Sheba, Asshur, and Chilmad traded with you.^(A)

³¹ Terah took his son Abram and his grandson Lot son of Haran and his daughter-in-law Sarai, his son Abram’s wife, and they went out together from Ur of the Chaldeans to go into the land of Canaan, but when they came to Haran, they settled there.^(A)

⁴ Then he left the country of the Chaldeans and settled in Haran. After his father died, God had him move from there to this country in which you are now living.^(A)

²⁶ So the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of King Pul of Assyria, the spirit of King Tiglath-pileser^[a] of Assyria, and he carried them away, namely, the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, and brought them to Halah, Habor, Hara, and the River Gozan, to this day.^(A)

³³ Has any of the gods of the nations ever delivered its land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?^{(A) 34} Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivvah? Have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?^(B)

⁴ Jacob said to them, “My brothers, where do you come from?” They said, “We are from Haran.”^(A)

⁸ And the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there he put the man whom he had formed.^(A)
