¹⁰ When King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet ^(A)Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, he saw the altar that was at Damascus. And King Ahaz sent to ^(B)Uriah the priest a model of the altar, and its pattern, exact in all its details.

² And ^(A)I will get reliable witnesses, ^(B)Uriah the priest and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah, to attest for me.”

¹⁸ knowing that you ^(A)were ransomed from ^(B)the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold,

^2 (A)Do not be conformed to this world,^[a] but be transformed by ^(B)the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may ^(C)discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.^[b]

⁶ he need not honor his father.’ So for the sake of your tradition you have ^(A)made void the word^[a] of God.

¹¹ And if they are ashamed of all that they have done, ^(A)make known to them the design of the temple, its arrangement, ^(B)its exits and its entrances, that is, its whole design; and make known to them as well all its statutes and its whole design and all its laws, and write it down ^(C)in their sight, so that they may observe all its laws and all its statutes and carry them out.

⁸ by setting their threshold by my threshold and their doorposts beside my doorposts, with ^(A)only a wall between me and them. They have ^(B)defiled my holy name by their abominations that they have committed, so I have consumed them in my anger.

¹⁶ When she saw them, she lusted after them and ^(A)sent messengers to them ^(B)in Chaldea. ¹⁷ And the Babylonians came to her ^(C)into the bed of love, and they defiled her with their whoring lust. And after she was defiled by them, ^(D)she turned from them in disgust.
