Jehoahaz Reigns in Israel

13 In the twenty-third year of ^(A)Joash^[a] the son of Ahaziah, king of Judah, ^(B)Jehoahaz the son of Jehu became king over Israel in Samaria, and reigned seventeen years.

²¹ Jehoash was ^(A)seven years old when he became king.

⁴ In ^(B)the seventh year Jehoiada sent and brought the captains of hundreds—of the bodyguards and the ^[a]escorts—and brought them into the house of the Lord to him. And he made a covenant with them and took an oath from them in the house of the Lord, and showed them the king’s son.

³⁵ So Jehu ^[a]rested with his fathers, and they buried him in Samaria. Then ^(A)Jehoahaz his son reigned in his place. ³⁶ And the period that Jehu reigned over Israel in Samaria was twenty-eight years.

²⁶ Ahaziah was ^(A)twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Athaliah the granddaughter of Omri, king of Israel.
