¹⁶ And he said, “Come with me, and see ^(A)my zeal for the Lord.” So he^[a] had him ride in his chariot.

¹⁰ He said, “I have been very ^(A)jealous for the Lord, the God of hosts. For the people of Israel have forsaken your covenant, ^(B)thrown down your altars, and ^(C)killed your prophets with the sword, ^(D)and I, even I only, am left, and they seek my life, to take it away.”

³¹ But Jehu was not careful to walk in the law of the Lord, the God of Israel, with all his heart. ^(A)He did not turn from the sins of Jeroboam, which he made Israel to sin.

² For I bear them witness that ^(A)they have a zeal for God, ^(B)but not according to knowledge.

The Lord's Prayer

⁵ “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love ^(A)to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. ^(B)Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.

^2 (A)“Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may ^(B)be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have ^(C)received their reward.

^31 (A)And they come to you as people come, and they sit before you as my people, and they hear what you say but they will not do it; for ^(B)with lustful talk in their mouths they act; their heart is set on their gain.

⁷ And you shall strike down the house of Ahab your master, so that I may avenge ^(A)on Jezebel the blood of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the Lord. ⁸ For the whole house of Ahab shall perish, ^(B)and I will cut off from Ahab ^(C)every male, ^(D)bond or free, in Israel. ⁹ And I will make the house of Ahab like ^(E)the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like ^(F)the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah.
