¹⁰ Know now that nothing shall ^(A)fall to the earth of the word of the Lord which the Lord spoke concerning the house of Ahab; for the Lord has done what He spoke ^(B)by His servant Elijah.”

²⁹ “See how Ahab has humbled himself before Me? Because he ^(A)has humbled himself before Me, I will not bring the calamity in his days. ^(B)In the days of his son I will bring the calamity on his house.”

⁷ You shall strike down the house of Ahab your master, that I may ^(A)avenge the blood of My servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the Lord, ^(B)at the hand of Jezebel. ⁸ For the whole house of Ahab shall perish; and ^(C)I will cut off from Ahab all ^(D)the males in Israel, both ^(E)bond and free. ⁹ So I will make the house of Ahab like the house of ^(F)Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of ^(G)Baasha the son of Ahijah. ^10 (H)The dogs shall eat Jezebel on the plot of ground at Jezreel, and there shall be none to bury her.’ ” And he opened the door and fled.

¹⁹ You shall speak to him, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Have you murdered and also taken possession?” ’ And you shall speak to him, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord: ^(A)“In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth, dogs shall lick your blood, even yours.” ’ ”

²¹ ‘Behold, ^(A)I will bring calamity on you. I will take away your ^(B)posterity, and will cut off from Ahab ^(C)every male in Israel, both ^(D)bond and free. ²² I will make your house like the house of ^(E)Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of ^(F)Baasha the son of Ahijah, because of the provocation with which you have provoked Me to anger, and made Israel sin.’ ²³ And ^(G)concerning Jezebel the Lord also spoke, saying, ‘The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the ^[a]wall of Jezreel.’ ²⁴ The dogs shall eat ^(H)whoever belongs to Ahab and dies in the city, and the birds of the air shall eat whoever dies in the field.”

¹⁹ So Samuel ^(A)grew, and ^(B)the Lord was with him ^(C)and let none of his words ^[a]fall to the ground.

³¹ Heaven and earth will pass away, but ^(A)My words will by no means pass away.

“So they returned and said:

²⁸ Yet ^(A)a small number who escape the sword shall return from the land of Egypt to the land of Judah; and all the remnant of Judah, who have gone to the land of Egypt to dwell there, shall know whose words will stand, Mine or theirs. ²⁹ And this shall be a sign to you,’ says the Lord, ‘that I will punish you in this place, that you may know that My words will surely ^(B)stand against you for adversity.’
