Greeting

^1 (A)The elder to the elect lady and her children, ^(B)whom I love in truth, and not only I, but also all who ^(C)know ^(D)the truth,

¹⁸ Little children, let us not ^(A)love in word or talk but in deed and ^(B)in truth.

³² and you will ^(A)know the truth, and the truth ^(B)will set you free.”

⁵ And now I ask you, dear lady—^(A)not as though I were writing you a new commandment, but the one we have had from the beginning—^(B)that we love one another.

Shepherd the Flock of God

5 So I exhort the elders among you, ^(A)as a fellow elder and ^(B)a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed:

²² Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for ^(A)a sincere brotherly love, ^(B)love one another earnestly from a pure heart, ^23 (C)since you have been born again, ^(D)not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through ^(E)the living and abiding word of God;

²⁶ For ^(A)if we go on sinning deliberately ^(B)after receiving the knowledge of the truth, ^(C)there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,

⁴ who desires ^(A)all people to be saved and ^(B)to come to ^(C)the knowledge of the truth.

⁵ to them we did not yield in submission even for a moment, so that ^(A)the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you.

¹³ The children of your elect sister greet you.
