Si Haring Ezequias ng Juda(A)
29 Si Ezequias ay dalawampu't limang taóng gulang nang maging hari at dalawampu't siyam na taon siyang naghari sa Jerusalem. Ang kanyang ina ay si Abija na anak ni Zacarias. 2 Katulad ng kanyang ninunong si David, gumawa siya ng kalugud-lugod sa paningin ni Yahweh.
Ipinalinis ang Templo
3 Sa unang buwan ng unang taon ng paghahari ni Ezequias, pinabuksan niya ang mga pintuan ng Templo at ipinaayos ito. 4 Tinipon niya ang mga pari at mga Levita sa bulwagan sa gawing silangan ng Templo. 5 Sinabi niya: “Makinig kayo, mga Levita. Italaga ninyo ngayon ang inyong sarili at ang Templo ni Yahweh, ang Diyos ng inyong mga ninuno. Alisin ninyo ang mga karumal-dumal na bagay sa dakong banal. 6 Nagkasala ang ating mga magulang. Hindi sila naging tapat kay Yahweh na ating Diyos. Kanilang tinalikuran siya at ang kanyang Templo. 7 Isinara nila ang mga pintuan sa portiko. Hindi nila sinindihan ang mga ilawan at hindi na nagsunog ng insenso. Hindi na rin sila nagdala ng handog na susunugin sa dakong banal ng Diyos ng Israel. 8 Kaya nagalit si Yahweh sa Juda at sa Jerusalem at ginawa niyang kahiya-hiya at kakila-kilabot ang kanilang sinapit gaya ng inyong nakikita. 9 Kaya naman napatay sa digmaan ang ating mga magulang at nabihag ng mga kaaway ang ating mga anak at mga asawa. 10 Napagpasyahan kong manumpa tayo kay Yahweh, ang Diyos ng Israel, upang mapawi ang galit niya sa atin. 11 Mga anak, huwag na kayong mag-aksaya ng panahon. Kayo ang pinili ni Yahweh na mag-alay ng handog at magsunog ng insenso at manguna sa pagsamba sa kanya.”
12 Inihanda ng mga Levita ang kanilang sarili. Sa angkan ni Kohat: si Mahat na anak ni Amasai at si Joel na anak ni Azarias. Sa angkan ni Merari: si Kish na anak ni Abdi at si Azarias na anak ni Jehalelel. Sa angkan ni Gershon: si Joah na anak ni Zimma at si Eden na anak naman ni Joah. 13 Sa angkan naman ni Elizafan: si Simri na anak ni Jeiel. Sa angkan ni Asaf: sina Zacarias at Matanias. 14 Sa angkan ni Heman: sina Jehiel at Simei. Sa angkan ni Jeduthun: sina Semaias at Uziel.
15 Tinipon ng mga ito ang kanilang mga kapwa Levita at nilinis ang kanilang sarili ayon sa Kautusan. Gaya ng utos sa kanila ng hari, pumasok sila at nilinis ang Templo ayon sa Kautusan ni Yahweh. 16 Pumasok naman sa loob ng Templo ang mga pari at inilabas ang maruruming bagay sa bulwagan ng Templo ni Yahweh. Kinuha naman ito ng mga Levita at dinala sa Libis ng Kidron. 17 Sinimulan nila ang gawain ng paglilinis noong unang araw ng unang buwan at ikawalong araw nang umabot sila sa portiko. Walong araw pa nilang nilinis ang Templo ni Yahweh at natapos nila ito sa ikalabing-anim na araw ng buwan ding iyon.
Muling Itinalaga ang Templo
18 Pagkatapos, pumunta ang mga Levita kay Haring Ezequias at sinabi dito, “Nalinis na po namin ang Templo ni Yahweh, ang altar na pinagsusunugan ng mga handog at ang lahat ng kagamitan doon, pati ang hapag ng mga tinapay na handog at ang mga kagamitan doon. 19 Ang mga kasangkapan namang inalis ni Haring Ahaz nang tumalikod siya sa Diyos ay ibinalik namin at muling inilaan para sa Diyos. Nakalagay na po ang lahat ng ito sa harap ng altar ni Yahweh.”
20 Maagang bumangon si Haring Ezequias at tinipon niya ang mga pinuno ng lunsod. Magkakasama silang pumunta sa Templo ni Yahweh. 21 May dala silang pitong toro, pitong lalaking tupa, pitong kordero at pitong lalaking kambing na handog pangkasalanan para sa kaharian, sa Templo at sa Juda. Iniutos ng hari sa mga paring mula sa angkan ni Aaron na ihandog ang mga ito sa altar ni Yahweh. 22 Kaya't pinatay ng mga pari ang mga toro at ang dugo nito'y iwinisik nila sa altar. Gayundin ang ginawa sa mga lalaking tupa at kordero. 23 Ngunit ang mga lalaking kambing na handog pangkasalanan ay dinala sa harapan ng hari at ng kapulungan. Ipinatong nila ang kanilang mga kamay sa mga hayop na ito. 24 Pagkatapos, pinatay ng mga pari ang mga kambing at ang dugo ng mga ito'y dinala nila sa altar at inihandog bilang pambayad sa kasalanan ng buong Israel, sapagkat iniutos ng hari na ialay para sa buong Israel ang handog na susunugin at ang handog pangkasalanan.
25 Naglagay din siya ng manunugtog sa Templo ni Yahweh: mga Levitang tutugtog ng mga pompiyang, lira at alpa. Ito ang utos ni David, ni Gad na propeta ng hari at ni propeta Natan, ayon sa utos ni Yahweh na ibinigay sa pamamagitan ng kanyang mga propeta. 26 Nakatayo doon ang mga Levita na may hawak na mga panugtog na ginamit ni David at ang mga pari naman ang may hawak ng mga trumpeta. 27 Iniutos ni Ezequias na ialay sa altar ang handog na susunugin. Kasabay ng paghahandog, inawit ang papuri kay Yahweh sa saliw ng trumpeta at mga instrumento ni David. 28 Ang buong kapulungan ay sumamba, umawit ang mga mang-aawit at hinipan ang mga trumpeta hanggang sa matapos ang pagsusunog ng mga handog. 29 Pagkatapos, ang hari naman at ang kanyang mga kasama ang nagpatirapa at sumamba sa Diyos. 30 Iniutos ni Haring Ezequias at ng mga pinunong kasama niya sa mga Levita na awitin para kay Yahweh ang mga awit at papuring likha ni Haring David at ng propeta niyang si Asaf. Buong galak silang umawit ng papuri, nagpatirapa at sumamba sa Diyos.
31 Sinabi ni Ezequias sa mga tao, “Nalinis na ninyo ngayon ang inyong mga sarili para kay Yahweh. Lumapit na kayo at dalhin sa Templo ang inyong mga handog ng pasasalamat kay Yahweh.” Nagdala nga ang buong kapulungan ng mga handog ng pasasalamat at ang iba nama'y kusang-loob na nagdala ng mga handog na susunugin. 32 Ang mga handog na susunugin para kay Yahweh ay umabot sa pitumpung toro, sandaang lalaking tupa at dalawandaang kordero. 33 Ang inialay na mga handog ay umabot sa 600 toro at 3,000 tupa. 34 Ngunit iilan lamang ang mga pari at hindi nila kayang gawin lahat ang pag-aalay sa mga handog na susunugin. Kaya tinulungan sila ng mga Levita. Dahil dito, nagkaroon ng pagkakataong makapaglinis ng sarili ang ibang pari. Sapagkat naging mas masigasig sa paglilinis ng sarili ang mga Levita kaysa mga pari. 35 Bukod sa mga handog na susunugin, marami rin ang taba ng mga handog na pagkaing butil at inumin. Sa ganitong paraan, naibalik ang dating pagsamba sa Templo ni Yahweh. 36 Tuwang-tuwa si Haring Ezequias at ang buong bayan sa ginawa ng Diyos para sa kanila sapagkat hindi nila akalaing ito'y matatapos agad.

Judah’s King Hezekiah
29 Hezekiah was 25 years old(A) when he became king and reigned 29 years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Abijah[a] daughter of Zechariah. 2 He did what was right in the Lord’s sight(B) just as his ancestor David had done.
3 In the first year of his reign, in the first month, he opened the doors of the Lord’s temple and repaired them.(C) 4 Then he brought in the priests and Levites and gathered them in the eastern public square.(D) 5 He said to them, “Hear me, Levites. Consecrate yourselves(E) now and consecrate the temple of Yahweh, the God of your ancestors. Remove everything impure from the holy place. 6 For our fathers were unfaithful and did what is evil in the sight of the Lord our God. They abandoned Him, turned their faces away from the Lord’s tabernacle, and turned their backs on Him.[b](F) 7 They also closed the doors of the portico, extinguished the lamps, did not burn incense, and did not offer burnt offerings in the holy place of the God of Israel. 8 Therefore, the wrath of the Lord was on Judah and Jerusalem, and He made them an object of terror, horror, and mockery,[c](G) as you see with your own eyes. 9 Our fathers fell by the sword, and our sons, our daughters, and our wives are in captivity because of this.(H) 10 It is in my heart now to make a covenant with Yahweh, the God of Israel(I) so that His burning anger may turn away from us. 11 My sons, don’t be negligent now, for the Lord has chosen you to stand in His presence, to serve Him, and to be His ministers and burners of incense.”(J)
Cleansing the Temple
12 Then the Levites stood up:
Mahath(K) son of Amasai and Joel son of Azariah from the Kohathites;
Kish son of Abdi and Azariah son of Jehallelel from the Merarites;(L)
Joah son of Zimmah and Eden son of Joah from the Gershonites;
13 Shimri and Jeuel from the Elizaphanites;
Zechariah and Mattaniah from the Asaphites;
14 Jehiel[d] and Shimei from the Hemanites;
Shemaiah and Uzziel from the Jeduthunites.
15 They gathered their brothers together, consecrated themselves,(M) and went according to the king’s command by the words of the Lord(N) to cleanse the Lord’s temple.(O)
16 The priests went to the entrance of the Lord’s temple to cleanse it. They took all the unclean things they found in the Lord’s sanctuary to the courtyard of the Lord’s temple. Then the Levites received them and took them outside to the Kidron Valley.(P) 17 They began the consecration on the first day of the first month, and on the eighth day of the month they came to the portico of the Lord’s temple. They consecrated the Lord’s temple for eight days, and on the sixteenth day of the first month they finished.
18 Then they went inside to King Hezekiah and said, “We have cleansed the whole temple of the Lord, the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, and the table for the rows of the bread of the Presence and all its utensils. 19 We have set up and consecrated all the utensils that King Ahaz rejected during his reign(Q) when he became unfaithful. They are in front of the altar of the Lord.”
Renewal of Temple Worship
20 King Hezekiah got up early, gathered the city officials, and went to the Lord’s temple. 21 They brought seven bulls, seven rams, seven lambs, and seven male goats as a sin offering for the kingdom, for the sanctuary, and for Judah. Then he told the descendants of Aaron, the priests, to offer them on the altar of the Lord. 22 So they slaughtered the bulls, and the priests received the blood and sprinkled it on the altar.(R) They slaughtered the rams and sprinkled the blood on the altar. They slaughtered the lambs and sprinkled the blood on the altar. 23 Then they brought the goats for the sin offering right into the presence of the king and the congregation, who laid their hands on them.(S) 24 The priests slaughtered the goats and put their blood on the altar for a sin offering, to make atonement for all Israel,(T) for the king said that the burnt offering and sin offering were for all Israel.
25 Hezekiah stationed the Levites in the Lord’s temple with cymbals, harps, and lyres(U) according to the command of David,(V) Gad the king’s seer,(W) and Nathan the prophet.(X) For the command was from the Lord through His prophets. 26 The Levites stood with the instruments of David,(Y) and the priests with the trumpets.(Z)
27 Then Hezekiah ordered that the burnt offering be offered on the altar. When the burnt offerings began, the song of the Lord and the trumpets began, accompanied by the instruments of David king of Israel. 28 The whole assembly was worshiping, singing the song, and blowing the trumpets—all of this continued until the burnt offering was completed. 29 When the burnt offerings were completed, the king and all those present with him bowed down and worshiped.(AA) 30 Then King Hezekiah and the officials told the Levites to sing praise to the Lord in the words of David and of Asaph the seer. So they sang praises with rejoicing and bowed down and worshiped.
31 Hezekiah concluded, “Now you are consecrated[e] to the Lord. Come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings to the Lord’s temple.” So the congregation brought sacrifices and thank offerings, and all those with willing hearts(AB) brought burnt offerings. 32 The number of burnt offerings the congregation brought was 70 bulls, 100 rams, and 200 lambs; all these were for a burnt offering to the Lord. 33 Six hundred bulls and 3,000 sheep were consecrated.
34 However, since there were not enough priests, they weren’t able to skin all the burnt offerings, so their Levite brothers helped them(AC) until the work was finished and until the priests consecrated themselves. For the Levites were more conscientious[f](AD) to consecrate themselves than the priests were.(AE) 35 Furthermore, the burnt offerings were abundant, along with the fat of the fellowship offerings(AF) and with the drink offerings(AG) for the burnt offering.
So the service of the Lord’s temple was established. 36 Then Hezekiah and all the people rejoiced over how God had prepared the people, for it had come about suddenly.

Hezekiah Reigns in Judah(A)
29 Hezekiah (B)became king when he was twenty-five years old, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was [a]Abijah the daughter of Zechariah. 2 And he did what was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father David had done.
Hezekiah Cleanses the Temple
3 In the first year of his reign, in the first month, he (C)opened the doors of the house of the Lord and repaired them. 4 Then he brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them in the East Square, 5 and said to them: “Hear me, Levites! Now [b]sanctify yourselves, (D)sanctify the house of the Lord God of your fathers, and carry out the rubbish from the holy place. 6 For our fathers have trespassed and done evil in the eyes of the Lord our God; they have forsaken Him, have (E)turned their faces away from the [c]dwelling place of the Lord, and turned their backs on Him. 7 (F)They have also shut up the doors of the vestibule, put out the lamps, and have not burned incense or offered burnt offerings in the holy place to the God of Israel. 8 Therefore the (G)wrath of the Lord fell upon Judah and Jerusalem, and He has (H)given them up to trouble, to desolation, and to (I)jeering, as you see with your (J)eyes. 9 For indeed, because of this (K)our fathers have fallen by the sword; and our sons, our daughters, and our wives are in captivity.
10 “Now it is in my heart to make (L)a covenant with the Lord God of Israel, that His fierce wrath may turn away from us. 11 My sons, do not be negligent now, for the Lord has (M)chosen you to stand before Him, to serve Him, and that you should minister to Him and burn incense.”
12 Then these Levites arose: (N)Mahath the son of Amasai and Joel the son of Azariah, of the sons of the (O)Kohathites; of the sons of Merari, Kish the son of Abdi and Azariah the son of Jehallelel; of the Gershonites, Joah the son of Zimmah and Eden the son of Joah; 13 of the sons of Elizaphan, Shimri and Jeiel; of the sons of Asaph, Zechariah and Mattaniah; 14 of the sons of Heman, Jehiel and Shimei; and of the sons of Jeduthun, Shemaiah and Uzziel.
15 And they gathered their brethren, (P)sanctified[d] themselves, and went according to the commandment of the king, at the words of the Lord, (Q)to cleanse the house of the Lord. 16 Then the priests went into the inner part of the house of the Lord to cleanse it, and brought out all the debris that they found in the temple of the Lord to the court of the house of the Lord. And the Levites took it out and carried it to the Brook (R)Kidron.
17 Now they began to [e]sanctify on the first day of the first month, and on the eighth day of the month they came to the vestibule of the Lord. So they sanctified the house of the Lord in eight days, and on the sixteenth day of the first month they finished.
18 Then they went in to King Hezekiah and said, “We have cleansed all the house of the Lord, the altar of burnt offerings with all its articles, and the table of the showbread with all its articles. 19 Moreover all the articles which King Ahaz in his reign had (S)cast aside in his transgression we have prepared and [f]sanctified; and there they are, before the altar of the Lord.”
Hezekiah Restores Temple Worship
20 Then King Hezekiah rose early, gathered the rulers of the city, and went up to the house of the Lord. 21 And they brought seven bulls, seven rams, seven lambs, and seven male goats for a (T)sin offering for the kingdom, for the sanctuary, and for Judah. Then he commanded the priests, the sons of Aaron, to offer them on the altar of the Lord. 22 So they killed the bulls, and the priests received the blood and (U)sprinkled it on the altar. Likewise they killed the rams and sprinkled the blood on the altar. They also killed the lambs and sprinkled the blood on the altar. 23 Then they brought out the male goats for the sin offering before the king and the assembly, and they laid their (V)hands on them. 24 And the priests killed them; and they presented their blood on the altar as a sin offering (W)to make an atonement for all Israel, for the king commanded that the burnt offering and the sin offering be made for all Israel.
25 (X)And he stationed the Levites in the house of the Lord with cymbals, with stringed instruments, and with harps, (Y)according to the commandment of David, of (Z)Gad the king’s seer, and of Nathan the prophet; (AA)for thus was the commandment of the Lord by His prophets. 26 The Levites stood with the instruments (AB)of David, and the priests with (AC)the trumpets. 27 Then Hezekiah commanded them to offer the burnt offering on the altar. And when the burnt offering began, (AD)the song of the Lord also began, with the trumpets and with the instruments of David king of Israel. 28 So all the assembly worshiped, the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded; all this continued until the burnt offering was finished. 29 And when they had finished offering, (AE)the king and all who were present with him bowed and worshiped. 30 Moreover King Hezekiah and the leaders commanded the Levites to sing praise to the Lord with the words of David and of Asaph the seer. So they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshiped.
31 Then Hezekiah answered and said, “Now that you have consecrated yourselves to the Lord, come near, and bring sacrifices and (AF)thank offerings into the house of the Lord.” So the assembly brought in sacrifices and thank offerings, and as many as were of a (AG)willing heart brought burnt offerings. 32 And the number of the burnt offerings which the assembly brought was seventy bulls, one hundred rams, and two hundred lambs; all these were for a burnt offering to the Lord. 33 The consecrated things were six hundred bulls and three thousand sheep. 34 But the priests were too few, so that they could not skin all the burnt offerings; therefore (AH)their brethren the Levites helped them until the work was ended and until the other priests had [g]sanctified themselves, (AI)for the Levites were (AJ)more diligent in (AK)sanctifying themselves than the priests. 35 Also the burnt offerings were in abundance, with (AL)the fat of the peace offerings and with (AM)the drink offerings for every burnt offering.
So the service of the house of the Lord was set in order. 36 Then Hezekiah and all the people rejoiced that God had prepared the people, since the events took place so suddenly.
