5 Cosí fu ultimato tutto il lavoro che Salomone fece eseguire per la casa dell'Eterno. Allora Salomone fece portare tutto le cose che suo padre aveva consacrato: l'argento, l'oro e tutti gli utensili, e li mise nei tesori della casa di DIO.
2 Allora Salomone radunò a Gerusalemme gli anziani d'Israele e tutti i capi delle tribù, i principi delle famiglie paterne dei figli d'Israele, per portare su l'arca del patto dell'Eterno dalla città di Davide, cioè da Sion.
3 Tutti gli uomini d'Israele si radunarono presso il re per la festa che cadeva il settimo mese.
4 Cosí tutti gli anziani d'Israele vennero e i Leviti, presero l'arca.
5 Essi portarono su l'arca, la tenda di convegno e tutti gli utensili sacri che erano nella tenda. Furono i sacerdoti e i Leviti a trasportare queste cose.
6 Il re Salomone e tutta l'assemblea d'Israele, radunata attorno a lui, si raccolsero davanti all'arca e immolarono una tale quantità di pecore e buoi che non si potevano né contare né calcolare.
7 I sacerdoti portarono quindi l'arca del patto dell'Eterno al suo posto, nel santuario del tempio, nel luogo santissimo, sotto le ali dei cherubini.
8 I cherubini infatti stendevano le loro ali sopra il luogo dell'arca e coprivano dall'alto l'arca e le sue stanghe.
9 Le stanghe erano cosí lunghe che le estremità delle stanghe dell'arca si potevano vedere di fronte al luogo santissimo, ma non si vedevano dal di fuori. Esse sono rimaste là fino al giorno d'oggi.
10 Nell'arca non c'era nient'altro che le due tavole che Mosè vi aveva deposto al monte Horeb, quando l'Eterno fece un patto con i figli d'Israele, dopo che questi erano usciti dall'Egitto.
11 Ora, mentre i sacerdoti uscivano dal luogo santo (tutti i sacerdoti presenti infatti si erano santificati senza osservare l'ordine delle classi,
12 e tutti i Leviti cantori, Asaf, Heman, Jeduthun, i loro figli e i loro fratelli vestiti di bianco lino, con cembali, arpe e cetre stavano in piedi a est dell'altare, e con essi centoventi sacerdoti che suonavano le trombe)
13 e quando i trombettieri e i cantori come uno solo fecero udire all'unisono la loro voce per lodare e celebrare l'Eterno e alzarono la voce al suono delle trombe, dei cembali e di altri strumenti musicali e lodarono l'Eterno: «Perché è buono, perché la sua benignità dura in eterno», avvenne che la casa, la casa dell'Eterno, fu riempita da una nuvola,
14 e i sacerdoti non poterono rimanere a servire a motivo della nuvola, perché la gloria dell'Eterno riempiva la casa di DIO.

L’arca trasportata nel santuario
5 (A)Così fu compiuta tutta l’opera che Salomone fece eseguire per la casa del Signore. Salomone fece portare l’argento, l’oro e tutti gli utensili che Davide suo padre aveva consacrati, e li mise nei tesori della casa di Dio.
2 Allora Salomone convocò a Gerusalemme gli anziani d’Israele e tutti i capi delle tribù, cioè i grandi delle famiglie patriarcali dei figli d’Israele, per portare su l’arca del patto del Signore, dalla città di Davide, cioè da Sion.
3 Tutti gli uomini d’Israele si radunarono presso il re per la festa che cadeva il settimo mese.
4 Arrivati che furono tutti gli anziani d’Israele, i Leviti presero l’arca 5 e portarono su l’arca, la tenda di convegno e tutti gli utensili sacri che erano nella tenda. I sacerdoti e i Leviti eseguirono il trasporto. 6 Il re Salomone e tutta la comunità d’Israele, convocata presso di lui, si raccolsero davanti all’arca, e sacrificarono pecore e buoi in tal quantità da non potersi contare né calcolare. 7 I sacerdoti portarono l’arca del patto del Signore al luogo destinatole, nel santuario della casa, nel luogo santissimo, sotto le ali dei cherubini; 8 poiché i cherubini avevano le ali spiegate sopra il posto dell’arca, e coprivano dall’alto l’arca e le sue stanghe. 9 Le stanghe avevano una tale lunghezza che le loro estremità si vedevano sporgere dall’arca, davanti al santuario, ma non si vedevano dal di fuori. Esse sono rimaste là fino a oggi. 10 Nell’arca non c’era altro se non le due tavole di pietra che Mosè vi aveva deposte sull’Oreb, quando il Signore fece il patto con i figli d’Israele, dopo che questi furono usciti dal paese d’Egitto.
11 Mentre i sacerdoti uscivano dal luogo santo – poiché tutti i sacerdoti presenti si erano santificati senza osservare l’ordine delle classi, 12 e tutti i Leviti cantori, Asaf, Eman, Iedutun, i loro figli e i loro fratelli, vestiti di bisso, con cembali, saltèri e cetre stavano in piedi a oriente dell’altare, e con loro centoventi sacerdoti che suonavano la tromba –, 13 mentre, dico, quelli che suonavano la tromba e quelli che cantavano, come un sol uomo, fecero udire all’unisono la voce per lodare e per celebrare il Signore, e alzarono la voce al suono delle trombe, dei cembali e degli altri strumenti musicali, per lodare il Signore «perch’egli è buono, perché la sua bontà dura in eterno!», avvenne che la casa, la casa del Signore, fu riempita di una nuvola. 14 I sacerdoti non poterono rimanervi per svolgere il loro servizio a causa della nuvola, poiché la gloria del Signore riempiva la casa di Dio.

5 Thus all the work that Solomon wrought for the house of Jehovah was finished. And Solomon brought in the things that David his father had dedicated, even the silver, and the gold, and all the vessels, and put them in the treasuries of the house of God.
2 Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the princes of the fathers’ houses of the children of Israel, unto Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of Jehovah out of the city of David, which is Zion. 3 And all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto the king at the feast, which was in the seventh month. 4 And all the elders of Israel came: and the Levites took up the ark; 5 and they brought up the ark, and the tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the Tent; these did the priests the Levites bring up. 6 And king Solomon and all the congregation of Israel, that were assembled unto him, were before the ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen, that could not be counted nor numbered for multitude. 7 And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of Jehovah unto its place, into the oracle of the house, to the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubim. 8 For the cherubim spread forth their wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubim covered the ark and the staves thereof above. 9 And [a]the staves were so long that the ends of the staves were seen from the ark before the oracle; but they were not seen without: and there it is unto this day. 10 There was nothing in the ark save the two tables which Moses put there at Horeb, [b]when Jehovah made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of Egypt.
11 And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place (for all the priests that were present had sanctified themselves, and did not keep their courses; 12 also the Levites who were the singers, all of them, even Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun, and their sons and their brethren, arrayed in fine linen, with cymbals and psalteries and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them a hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets); 13 it came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking Jehovah; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments [c]of music, and praised Jehovah, saying, For he is good; for his lovingkindness endureth for ever; that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of Jehovah, 14 so that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of Jehovah filled the house of God.

5 When all the work Solomon had done for the temple of the Lord was finished,(A) he brought in the things his father David had dedicated(B)—the silver and gold and all the furnishings—and he placed them in the treasuries of God’s temple.
The Ark Brought to the Temple(C)
2 Then Solomon summoned to Jerusalem the elders of Israel, all the heads of the tribes and the chiefs of the Israelite families, to bring up the ark(D) of the Lord’s covenant from Zion, the City of David. 3 And all the Israelites(E) came together to the king at the time of the festival in the seventh month.
4 When all the elders of Israel had arrived, the Levites took up the ark, 5 and they brought up the ark and the tent of meeting and all the sacred furnishings in it. The Levitical priests(F) carried them up; 6 and King Solomon and the entire assembly of Israel that had gathered about him were before the ark, sacrificing so many sheep and cattle that they could not be recorded or counted.
7 The priests then brought the ark(G) of the Lord’s covenant to its place in the inner sanctuary of the temple, the Most Holy Place, and put it beneath the wings of the cherubim. 8 The cherubim(H) spread their wings over the place of the ark and covered the ark and its carrying poles. 9 These poles were so long that their ends, extending from the ark, could be seen from in front of the inner sanctuary, but not from outside the Holy Place; and they are still there today. 10 There was nothing in the ark except(I) the two tablets(J) that Moses had placed in it at Horeb, where the Lord made a covenant with the Israelites after they came out of Egypt.
11 The priests then withdrew from the Holy Place. All the priests who were there had consecrated themselves, regardless of their divisions.(K) 12 All the Levites who were musicians(L)—Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun and their sons and relatives—stood on the east side of the altar, dressed in fine linen and playing cymbals, harps and lyres. They were accompanied by 120 priests sounding trumpets.(M) 13 The trumpeters and musicians joined in unison to give praise and thanks to the Lord. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals and other instruments, the singers raised their voices in praise to the Lord and sang:
“He is good;
his love endures forever.”(N)
Then the temple of the Lord was filled with the cloud,(O) 14 and the priests could not perform(P) their service because of the cloud,(Q) for the glory(R) of the Lord filled the temple of God.
