La Nuova Diodati
33 Manasse aveva dodici anni quando iniziò a regnare, e regnò cinquantacinque anni a Gerusalemme.
2 Egli fece ciò che è male agli occhi dell'Eterno, seguendo le abominazioni delle nazioni che l'Eterno aveva scacciato davanti ai figli d'Israele.
3 Egli riedificò gli alti luoghi che Ezechia, suo padre, aveva demolito, eresse altari ai Baal, fece gli Ascerim, e si prostrò davanti a tutto l'esercito del cielo e lo serví.
4 Eresse pure altari nella casa dell'Eterno, della quale l'Eterno aveva detto: «Il mio nome rimarrà in Gerusalemme per sempre».
5 Costruí altari a tutto l'esercito del cielo nei due cortili della casa dell'Eterno.
6 Fece anche passare i suoi figli attraverso il fuoco nella valle del figlio di Hinnom; praticò la magia, la divinazione e la stregoneria, e consultò i medium e i maghi. Si diede interamente a fare ciò che è male agli occhi dell'Eterno, provocandolo ad ira.
7 Mise addirittura un'immagine scolpita, l'idolo che aveva fatto, nella casa di DIO, della quale DIO aveva detto a Davide e a Salomone, suo figlio: «In questa casa e a Gerusalemme, che ho scelta fra tutte le tribú d'Israele, porró il mio nome per sempre;
8 e non farò piú errare il piede d'Israele lontano dal paese che ho assegnato ai vostri padri, purché essi abbiano cura di mettere in pratica tutto ciò che ho loro comandato, secondo tutta la legge, gli statuti e i decreti dati per mezzo di Mosè».
9 Ma Manasse fece sviare Giuda e gli abitanti di Gerusalemme inducendoli a fare peggio delle nazioni che l'Eterno aveva distrutto davanti ai figli d'Israele.
10 L'Eterno parlò a Manasse e al suo popolo, ma essi non prestarono attenzione.
11 Allora l'Eterno fece venire contro di loro i capi dell'esercito del re di Assiria che presero Manasse con uncini al naso, lo legarono con catene di bronzo e lo condussero a Babilonia.
12 Quando si trovò nell'avversità, egli implorò l'Eterno, il suo DIO, e si umiliò profondamente davanti al DIO dei suoi padri.
13 Quindi lo pregò e lo supplicò e DIO ascoltò la sua supplica e lo ricondusse a Gerusalemme nel suo regno. Allora Manasse riconobbe che l'Eterno è DIO.
14 Dopo questo, Manasse costruí un muro fuori della città di Davide, a ovest di Ghihon nella valle, fino alla porta dei pesci, che girava attorno a Ofel, e lo fece molto alto. Poi in tutte le città fortificate di Giuda pose capi militari.
15 Inoltre rimosse dalla casa dell'Eterno gli dèi stranieri e l'idolo, insieme a tutti gli altari che aveva costruito sul monte della casa dell'Eterno e a Gerusalemme, e li gettò fuori della città.
16 Poi restaurò l'altare, dell'Eterno e su di esso offrí sacrifici di ringraziamento e di lode, e comandò a Giuda di servire l'Eterno, il DIO d'Israele.
17 Tuttavia il popolo continuava a offrire sacrifici sugli alti luoghi, ma solamente all'Eterno, il suo DIO.
18 Il resto delle gesta di Manasse, la preghiera che rivolse al suo DIO e le parole dei veggenti che gli parlarono in nome dell'Eterno, il DIO d'Israele, sono scritte nel libro dei re d'Israele.
19 Invece la sua preghiera e come DIO gli diede ascolto, tutti i suoi peccati e tutte le sue infedeltà, i luoghi dove costruí gli alti luoghi e vi eresse gli Ascerim, e le immagini scolpite, prima di essere umiliato, ecco, sono scritti nel libro di Hozai.
20 Poi Manasse si addormentò con i suoi padri e fu sepolto in casa sua. Al suo posto regnò suo figlio Amon.
21 Amon aveva ventidue anni quando iniziò a regnare, e regnò due anni a Gerusalemme.
22 Egli fece ciò che è male agli occhi dell'Eterno, come aveva fatto Manasse suo padre; Amon infatti offriva sacrifici a tutte le immagini scolpite fatte da Manasse, suo padre, e le serviva.
23 Egli non si umiliò davanti all'Eterno, come si era umiliato Manasse, suo padre; anzi Amon peccò sempre di piú.
24 Poi i suoi servi ordirono una congiura contro di lui e lo uccisero in casa sua.
25 Ma il popolo del paese mise a morte tutti quelli che avevano congiurato contro il re Amon; quindi il popolo del paese fece re al suo posto Giosia, suo figlio.

33 Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem.
2 But he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, like the abominations of the heathen whom the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel.
3 For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down, and he reared up altars for the Baalim, and made Asherah poles, and worshiped all the host of heaven and served them.
4 Also he built altars in the house of the Lord, whereof the Lord had said, “In Jerusalem shall My name be for ever.”
5 And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the Lord.
6 And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom; also he observed omens, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with mediums and with wizards. He wrought much evil in the sight of the Lord to provoke Him to anger.
7 And he set a carved image, the idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, “In this house and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen before all the tribes of Israel, will I put My name for ever;
8 neither will I any more remove the foot of Israel from out of the land which I have appointed for your fathers, so that they will take heed to do all that I have commanded them, according to the whole law and the statutes and the ordinances by the hand of Moses.”
9 So Manasseh made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to err and to do worse than the heathen whom the Lord had destroyed before the children of Israel.
10 And the Lord spoke to Manasseh and to his people, but they would not hearken.
11 Therefore the Lord brought upon them the captains of the host of the king of Assyria, who took Manasseh among the thorns, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon.
12 And when he was in affliction, he besought the Lord his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers,
13 and prayed unto Him; and He was entreated by him and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord, He was God.
14 Now after this he built a wall outside the City of David on the west side of Gihon in the valley, even to the entrance at the Fish Gate, and it compassed about Ophel; and he raised it up a very great height, and put captains of war in all the fortified cities of Judah.
15 And he took away the strange gods and the idol out of the house of the Lord, and all the altars that he had built in the mount of the house of the Lord and in Jerusalem, and cast them out of the city.
16 And he repaired the altar of the Lord, and sacrificed thereon peace offerings and thank offerings, and commanded Judah to serve the Lord God of Israel.
17 Nevertheless the people sacrificed still in the high places, but unto the Lord their God only.
18 Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and his prayer unto his God, and the words of the seers who spoke to him in the name of the Lord God of Israel, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel.
19 His prayer also and how God was entreated by him, and all his sins and his trespass, and the places wherein he built high places and set up Asherah poles and graven images before he was humbled, behold, they are written among the sayings of the seers.
20 So Manasseh slept with his fathers, and they buried him in his own house; and Amon his son reigned in his stead.
21 Amon was two and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned two years in Jerusalem.
22 But he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, as did Manasseh his father; for Amon sacrificed unto all the carved images which Manasseh his father had made and served them.
23 And he humbled not himself before the Lord, as Manasseh his father had humbled himself; but Amon trespassed more and more.
24 And his servants conspired against him, and slew him in his own house.
25 But the people of the land slew all those who had conspired against King Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead.

33 (A)Manasés tenía doce años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó cincuenta y cinco años en Jerusalén. 2 E hizo lo malo ante los ojos del Señor conforme a las abominaciones de las naciones que el Señor había desposeído delante de los hijos de Israel(B). 3 Porque reedificó los lugares altos que su padre Ezequías había derribado(C); levantó también altares a los Baales e hizo Aseras[a], y adoró a todo el ejército de los cielos y los sirvió(D). 4 Edificó además altares(E) en la casa del Señor, de la cual el Señor había dicho: Mi nombre estará en Jerusalén para siempre(F). 5 Edificó altares a todo el ejército de los cielos en los dos atrios(G) de la casa del Señor. 6 Hizo pasar por el fuego a sus hijos en el valle de Ben-hinom(H); practicó la hechicería, usó la adivinación, practicó la brujería y trató con médium y espiritistas(I). Hizo mucho mal ante los ojos del Señor, provocándole a ira. 7 Colocó la imagen tallada del ídolo que había hecho, en la casa de Dios(J), de la cual Dios había dicho a David y a su hijo Salomón: En esta casa y en Jerusalén, que he escogido de entre todas las tribus de Israel, pondré mi nombre para siempre(K), 8 y no volveré a quitar el pie de Israel de la tierra que yo he asignado(L) para vuestros padres, con tal de que cuiden de hacer todo lo que les he mandado conforme a toda la ley, los estatutos y las ordenanzas dados por medio[b] de Moisés. 9 Así hizo extraviar Manasés a Judá y a los habitantes de Jerusalén para que hicieran lo malo más que las naciones que el Señor había destruido delante de los hijos de Israel.
10 Y el Señor habló a Manasés y a su pueblo, pero ellos no hicieron caso(M). 11 Por eso el Señor hizo venir contra ellos a los comandantes del ejército del rey de Asiria, que capturaron a Manasés con garfios[c], lo ataron con cadenas de bronce(N) y lo llevaron a Babilonia(O). 12 Cuando estaba en angustia, imploró al Señor su Dios(P), y se humilló(Q) grandemente delante del Dios de sus padres. 13 Y cuando oró a Él, Dios se conmovió por su ruego, oyó su súplica(R) y lo trajo de nuevo a Jerusalén, a su reino. Entonces Manasés supo que el Señor era Dios(S).
14 Después de esto, edificó la muralla exterior de la ciudad de David al occidente de Gihón(T), en el valle, hasta la entrada de la puerta(U) del Pescado(V); y rodeó con ella el Ofel y la hizo muy alta. Entonces puso comandantes del ejército en todas las ciudades fortificadas de Judá. 15 También quitó los dioses extranjeros y el ídolo de la casa del Señor, así como todos los altares que había edificado en el monte de la casa del Señor y en Jerusalén(W), y los arrojó fuera de la ciudad. 16 Y reparó el altar del Señor, y sacrificó sobre él[d] ofrendas de paz y ofrendas de gratitud; y ordenó a Judá que sirviera al Señor, Dios(X) de Israel. 17 Sin embargo, el pueblo aún sacrificaba en los lugares altos(Y), aunque solo al Señor su Dios.
18 Los demás hechos de Manasés, y su oración a su Dios(Z), y las palabras de los videntes que le hablaron en el nombre del Señor, Dios de Israel(AA), he aquí, están en los registros de los reyes de Israel(AB). 19 También su oración y cómo fue oído(AC), todo su pecado y su infidelidad, y los sitios donde edificó lugares altos y levantó las Aseras y las imágenes talladas(AD) antes de humillarse, he aquí, están escritos en los registros de los Hozai[e]. 20 Y durmió Manasés con sus padres, y lo sepultaron en su casa; y su hijo Amón reinó en su lugar.

21 (AE)Amón tenía veintidós años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó dos años en Jerusalén. 22 E hizo lo malo ante los ojos del Señor, como había hecho su padre Manasés(AF); y Amón ofreció sacrificios a todas las imágenes talladas que su padre Manasés había hecho(AG), y las sirvió. 23 Además, no se humilló delante del Señor como su padre Manasés se había humillado(AH), sino que Amón aumentó su culpa. 24 Y conspiraron contra él sus siervos y le dieron muerte(AI) en su casa. 25 Pero el pueblo de la tierra mató[f] a todos los que habían conspirado contra el rey Amón; y en su lugar el pueblo de la tierra hizo rey a su hijo Josías.
