Spedizione di Giosafat e di Acab contro i Siri
18 (A)*Giosafat ebbe ricchezze e gloria in abbondanza, e contrasse parentela con *Acab. 2 Dopo qualche anno scese a *Samaria da Acab; e Acab fece uccidere per lui e per la gente che era con lui un gran numero di pecore e buoi, e lo convinse a marciare con lui contro Ramot di *Galaad. 3 Acab, re d'*Israele, disse a Giosafat, re di *Giuda: «Vuoi venire con me a Ramot di Galaad?» Giosafat gli rispose: «Conta su di me come su te stesso, sulla mia gente come sulla tua, e verremo con te alla guerra». 4 E Giosafat disse al re d'Israele: «Ti prego, consulta oggi la parola del Signore». 5 Allora il re d'Israele radunò i *profeti, in numero di quattrocento, e disse loro: «Dobbiamo andare a far guerra a Ramot di Galaad, o no?» Quelli risposero: «Va', e Dio la darà nelle mani del re». 6 Ma Giosafat disse: «Non c'è qui nessun altro profeta del Signore da poter consultare?» 7 Il re d'Israele rispose a Giosafat: «C'è ancora un uomo per mezzo del quale si potrebbe consultare il Signore; ma io lo odio perché non mi predice mai nulla di buono, ma sempre del male: è Micaia, figlio d'Imla». E Giosafat disse: «Non dica cosí il re». 8 Allora il re d'Israele chiamò un eunuco, e gli disse: «Fa' subito venire Micaia, figlio d'Imla».
9 Il re d'Israele e Giosafat, re di Giuda, sedevano ciascuno sul suo trono, vestiti dei loro abiti regali, nell'aia che è all'ingresso della porta di Samaria; tutti i profeti profetizzavano davanti a loro. 10 Sedechia, figlio di Chenaana, si era fatto delle corna di ferro, e disse: «Cosí dice il Signore: “Con queste corna colpirai i *Siri finché tu li abbia completamente distrutti”». 11 E tutti i profeti profetizzavano nello stesso modo, dicendo: «Sali contro Ramot di Galaad, e vincerai; il Signore la darà nelle mani del re».
12 Il messaggero che era andato a chiamare Micaia, gli parlò cosí: «Tutti i profeti, a una voce, predicono del bene al re; ti prego, le tue parole siano concordi con le loro, e predici del bene!» 13 Ma Micaia rispose: «Com'è vero che il Signore vive, io dirò quel che il Signore mi dirà».
14 Quando giunse davanti al re, il re gli disse: «Micaia, dobbiamo andare a far guerra a Ramot di Galaad, o no?» Egli rispose: «Andate pure, e vincerete; i nemici saranno dati nelle vostre mani». 15 Il re gli disse: «Quante volte dovrò scongiurarti di non dirmi altro che la verità nel nome del Signore?» 16 Micaia rispose: «Ho visto tutto Israele disperso su per i monti, come pecore che non hanno pastore; e il Signore ha detto: “Questa gente non ha padrone; se ne torni ciascuno in pace a casa sua”».
17 Il re d'Israele disse a Giosafat: «Non te l'avevo detto che costui non mi avrebbe predetto nulla di buono, ma soltanto del male?» 18 Micaia replicò: «Perciò ascoltate la parola del Signore. Io ho visto il Signore seduto sul suo trono, e tutto l'esercito del cielo che gli stava a destra e a sinistra. 19 E il Signore disse: “Chi sedurrà Acab, re d'Israele, affinché salga contro Ramot di Galaad e vi perisca?” Ci fu chi rispose in un modo e chi rispose in un altro. 20 Allora si fece avanti uno spirito, il quale si presentò davanti al Signore, e disse: “Lo sedurrò io”. Il Signore gli disse: “E come?” 21 Quello rispose: “Io uscirò, e sarò spirito di menzogna in bocca a tutti i suoi profeti”. Il Signore gli disse: “Sí, riuscirai a sedurlo; esci, e fa' cosí”. 22 E ora, ecco, il Signore ha messo uno spirito di menzogna in bocca a questi tuoi profeti; ma il Signore ha pronunziato del male contro di te».
23 Allora Sedechia, figlio di Chenaana, si accostò, diede uno schiaffo a Micaia, e disse: «Per dove è passato lo Spirito del Signore quand'è uscito da me per parlare a te?» 24 Micaia rispose: «Lo vedrai il giorno che andrai di camera in camera per nasconderti!» 25 Il re d'Israele disse: «Prendete Micaia, portatelo da Amon, governatore della città, e da Ioas, figlio del re, 26 e dite loro: “Cosí dice il re: Rinchiudete costui in prigione, nutritelo di pane d'afflizione e d'acqua d'afflizione finché io torni sano e salvo”». 27 Micaia disse: «Se tu torni sano e salvo, non è stato il Signore che ha parlato per bocca mia». E aggiunse: «Udite questo, popoli tutti!»
Sconfitta e morte di Acab
28 (B)Il re d'Israele e Giosafat, re di Giuda, marciarono dunque contro Ramot di Galaad. 29 Il re d'Israele disse a Giosafat: «Io mi travestirò per andare in battaglia; ma tu mettiti i tuoi abiti regali». Il re d'Israele si travestí, e andarono in battaglia.
30 Il re di Siria aveva dato quest'ordine ai capitani dei suoi carri: «Non combattete contro nessuno, piccolo o grande, ma soltanto contro il re d'Israele». 31 Quando i capitani dei carri scorsero Giosafat, dissero: «Quello è il re d'Israele»; e si diressero contro di lui per attaccarlo; ma Giosafat mandò un grido, e il Signore lo soccorse; e Dio li attirò lontano da lui. 32 Quando i capitani dei carri si accorsero che egli non era il re d'Israele, cessarono di assalirlo. 33 Ma un uomo scoccò a caso la freccia del suo arco, e ferí il re d'Israele tra la corazza e le falde; perciò il re disse al suo cocchiere: «Volta, portami fuori dal campo, perché sono ferito». 34 Ma la battaglia fu cosí accanita quel giorno, che il re fu trattenuto sul suo carro di fronte ai Siri fino alla sera, e sul tramontare del sole morí.

Micaías profetiza contra Acab(A)
18 Josafat se hizo muy rico y famoso y, como había emparentado con Acab, 2 después de algún tiempo fue a visitarlo en Samaria. Allí Acab mató muchas ovejas y vacas para Josafat y sus acompañantes y lo animó a marchar contra Ramot de Galaad.
3 Acab, rey de Israel, preguntó a Josafat, rey de Judá:
—¿Irías conmigo a pelear contra Ramot de Galaad?
Josafat respondió:
—Estoy a tu disposición, lo mismo que mi pueblo. Iremos contigo a la guerra.
4 Pero Josafat también le dijo al rey de Israel:
—Antes que nada, consultemos al Señor.
5 Así que el rey de Israel reunió a los profetas, que eran cuatrocientos y les preguntó:
—¿Debemos ir a la guerra contra Ramot de Galaad o no?
—Vaya usted —contestaron ellos—, porque Dios la entregará en manos de Su Majestad.
6 Pero Josafat inquirió:
—¿No hay aquí un profeta del Señor a quien podamos consultar?
7 El rey de Israel respondió:
—Todavía hay alguien por medio de quien podemos consultar al Señor, pero me cae muy mal porque nunca me profetiza nada bueno; solo me anuncia desastres. Se trata de Micaías, hijo de Imlá.
—No digas eso —respondió Josafat.
8 Entonces el rey de Israel llamó a uno de sus funcionarios y ordenó:
—¡Traigan de inmediato a Micaías, hijo de Imlá!
9 El rey de Israel y Josafat, rey de Judá, vestidos con sus trajes reales y sentados en sus respectivos tronos, estaban en la plaza a la entrada de Samaria con todos los que profetizaban en su presencia. 10 Sedequías, hijo de Quenaná, que se había hecho unos cuernos de hierro, anunció: «Así dice el Señor: “Con estos cuernos atacarás a los arameos hasta aniquilarlos”».
11 Y los demás profetas vaticinaban lo mismo. «Ataque usted a Ramot de Galaad y vencerá, porque el Señor la entregará en manos de Su Majestad».
12 Ahora bien, el mensajero que había ido a llamar a Micaías le advirtió:
—Mira, los demás profetas a una voz predicen el éxito del rey. Habla favorablemente, para que tu mensaje concuerde con el de ellos.
13 Pero Micaías repuso:
—Tan cierto como que el Señor vive, anunciaré al rey lo que mi Dios me diga.
14 Cuando compareció ante el rey, este le preguntó:
—Micaías, ¿debemos ir a la guerra contra Ramot de Galaad o no?
—Ataquen y vencerán —contestó él—, porque les será entregada.
15 El rey le reclamó:
—¿Cuántas veces debo hacerte jurar que no me digas nada más que la verdad en el nombre del Señor?
16 Ante esto, Micaías concedió:
—Vi a todo Israel esparcido por las colinas como ovejas sin pastor. Y el Señor dijo: “Esta gente no tiene amo. ¡Que cada cual se vaya a su casa en paz!”.
17 El rey de Israel dijo a Josafat:
—¿No te dije que jamás me profetiza nada bueno y que solo me anuncia desastres?
18 Micaías prosiguió:
—Por lo tanto, oigan la palabra del Señor: Vi al Señor sentado en su trono con todo el ejército del cielo alrededor de él, a su derecha y a su izquierda. 19 Y el Señor dijo: “¿Quién seducirá a Acab, rey de Israel, para que ataque a Ramot de Galaad y vaya a morir allí?”. Uno sugería una cosa y otro sugería otra. 20 Por último, un espíritu se adelantó, se puso delante del Señor y dijo: “Yo lo seduciré”. “¿Por qué medios?”, preguntó el Señor. 21 Y aquel espíritu respondió: “Saldré y seré un espíritu mentiroso en la boca de todos sus profetas”. Entonces el Señor ordenó: “Ve y hazlo así, que tendrás éxito en seducirlo”.
22 »Así que ahora el Señor ha puesto un espíritu mentiroso en la boca de estos profetas suyos. El Señor ha decretado para usted la calamidad».
23 Al oír esto, Sedequías, hijo de Quenaná, se levantó y le dio una bofetada a Micaías.
—¿Por dónde se fue el espíritu[a] del Señor cuando salió de mí para hablarte? —preguntó.
24 Micaías contestó:
—Lo sabrás el día en que andes de escondite en escondite.
25 Entonces el rey de Israel ordenó:
—Tomen a Micaías y llévenselo a Amón, el gobernador de la ciudad, y a Joás, mi hijo. 26 Díganles que ordeno que lo echen en la cárcel y solo le den pan y agua, hasta que yo regrese sin contratiempos.
27 Micaías manifestó:
—Si regresas en paz, el Señor no ha hablado por medio de mí. ¡Tomen nota todos ustedes de lo que estoy diciendo!
Muerte de Acab en Ramot de Galaad(B)
28 El rey de Israel y Josafat, rey de Judá, marcharon juntos contra Ramot de Galaad. 29 Allí el rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: «Yo entraré a la batalla disfrazado, pero tú te pondrás tu traje real». Así que el rey de Israel se disfrazó y entró al combate.
30 Pero el rey de Aram había ordenado a sus comandantes de los carros de combate: «No luchen contra nadie, grande o pequeño, salvo contra el rey de Israel». 31 Cuando los comandantes de los carros vieron a Josafat, pensaron: «Este es el rey de Israel». Así que se volvieron para atacarlo; pero Josafat gritó, y Dios el Señor lo ayudó haciendo que se apartaran de él. 32 Entonces los comandantes de los carros vieron que no era el rey de Israel y dejaron de perseguirlo.
33 Sin embargo, alguien disparó su arco al azar e hirió al rey de Israel entre las piezas de su armadura. El rey ordenó al que conducía su carro: «Da la vuelta y sácame del campo de batalla, pues me han herido». 34 Todo el día arreció la batalla y al rey de Israel se mantuvo de pie en su carro frente a los arameos hasta el atardecer, entonces murió al ponerse el sol.

18 ¶ Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honour in abundance, and married into the family of Ahab.
2 And after a few years he went down to Ahab to Samaria. And Ahab killed sheep and oxen for him in abundance and for the people that he had with him, and persuaded him to go up with him to Ramothgilead.
3 And Ahab, king of Israel, said unto Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, Wilt thou go with me to Ramothgilead? And he answered him, I am as thou art and my people as thy people; and we will be with thee in the war.
4 ¶ And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD today.
5 Therefore, the king of Israel gathered together of prophets four hundred men and said unto them, Shall we go to Ramothgilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up, for God will deliver it into the king’s hand.
6 But Jehoshaphat said, Is there yet here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might enquire by him?
7 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man here, by whom we may enquire of the LORD, but I hate him, for he never prophesies good unto me, but always evil; the same is Micaiah, the son of Imla. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.
8 So the king of Israel called for a eunuch and said, Bring quickly Micaiah, the son of Imla.
9 And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, were each sitting on their thrones, clothed in their robes, and they sat in the threshing floor at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.
10 And Zedekiah, the son of Chenaanah, had made himself horns of iron and said, Thus hath the LORD said, With these thou shalt push Syria until they are consumed.
11 And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramothgilead and be prospered, for the LORD shall deliver it into the hand of the king.
12 And the messenger that went to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, Behold, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one assent; let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like one of theirs, and speak thou good.
13 And Micaiah said, As the LORD lives, that what my God says, that will I speak.
14 And when he was come to the king, the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go to Ramothgilead to battle or shall I forbear? And he said, Go up, and ye shall be prospered; they shall be delivered into your hands.
15 And the king said to him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou say nothing but the truth to me in the name of the LORD?
16 Then he said, I did see all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd; and the LORD said, These have no master; let each one return to his house in peace.
17 And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would not prophesy good unto me, but evil?
18 So he said, Therefore, hear the word of the LORD; I saw the LORD sitting upon his throne, and all the host of the heavens standing on his right hand and on his left.
19 And the LORD said, Who shall entice Ahab, king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one spoke saying after this manner, and another saying after that manner.
20 Then a spirit came out and stood before the LORD and said, I will entice him. And the LORD said unto him, In what manner?
21 And he said, I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And the LORD said, Thou shalt entice him, and thou shalt also prevail; go out and do even so.
22 Now, therefore, behold, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the LORD has decreed evil concerning thee.
23 Then Zedekiah, the son of Chenaanah, came near and smote Micaiah upon the cheek and said, Which way did the Spirit of the LORD depart from me to speak unto thee?
24 And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see on that day when thou shalt go from chamber to chamber to hide thyself.
25 Then the king of Israel said, Take Micaiah and carry him back to Amon, the governor of the city, and to Joash, the king’s son
26 and say, Thus hath the king said, Put this fellow in the prison and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction until I return in peace.
27 And Micaiah said, If thou certainly return in peace, then the LORD has not spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, all ye peoples.
28 ¶ So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah, went up to Ramothgilead.
29 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself to enter into the battle, but put thou on thy robes. So the king of Israel disguised himself and entered into the battle.
30 Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of the chariots that were with him, saying, Fight not with small nor great, but only with the king of Israel.
31 And when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they said, It is the king of Israel. Therefore, they compassed about him to fight; but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him; and God separated them from him.
32 And when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, they withdrew from pursuing him.
33 But a certain man drew a bow in all his perfection and smote the king of Israel between the joints of his coat of mail; therefore, he said to his chariot man, Turn thy hand, and carry me out of the camp, for I am wounded.
34 And the battle increased that day; howbeit, the king of Israel stayed himself up in his chariot against the Syrians until the evening, and about the time of the sun going down he died.
