Pacto de Asá con Ben Adad(A)(B)
16 En el año treinta y seis del reinado de Asá, Basá, rey de Israel, atacó a Judá y fortificó Ramá para aislar totalmente a Asá, rey de Judá.
2 Entonces Asá sacó plata y oro de los tesoros del Templo del Señor y del palacio real, y se los envió a Ben Adad, rey de Aram, que gobernaba en Damasco. También le envió este mensaje: 3 «Hagamos un pacto tú y yo, como el que hicieron tu padre y el mío. Aquí te envío oro y plata. Anula tu pacto con Basá, rey de Israel, para que se marche de aquí».
4 Ben Adad estuvo de acuerdo con el rey Asá y envió a los comandantes de su ejército para que atacaran las ciudades de Israel. Así conquistaron Iyón, Dan y Abel Mayin, además de todos los lugares de almacenamiento que había en las ciudades de Neftalí. 5 Cuando Basá se enteró, dejó de fortificar Ramá. 6 Entonces el rey Asá movilizó a todo Judá y se llevó de Ramá las piedras y la madera con que había estado fortificando aquella ciudad y fortificó más bien Gueba y Mizpa.
7 En esa ocasión el vidente Jananí se presentó ante Asá, rey de Judá, y le dijo: «Por cuanto pusiste tu confianza en el rey de Aram en vez de confiar en el Señor tu Dios, el ejército arameo se te ha escapado de las manos. 8 ¿Acaso los cusitas y los libios no formaban un ejército numeroso y tenían muchos carros de combate y caballos? Sin embargo, el Señor los entregó en tus manos, porque en esa ocasión tú confiaste en él. 9 El Señor recorre con su mirada toda la tierra y está listo para ayudar a quienes le son fieles.[a] De ahora en adelante tendrás guerras, pues actuaste como un necio».
10 Asá se enfureció contra el vidente por lo que este le dijo y lo mandó encarcelar. Al mismo tiempo, Asá oprimió también a una parte del pueblo.
11 Los hechos de Asá, desde el primero hasta el último, están escritos en el libro de los reyes de Judá e Israel. 12 En el año treinta y nueve de su reinado, Asá se enfermó de los pies; y aunque su enfermedad era grave, no buscó al Señor, sino que recurrió a los médicos. 13 En el año cuarenta y uno de su reinado, Asá murió y fue sepultado con sus antepasados. 14 Lo sepultaron en la tumba que él había mandado cavar en la Ciudad de David, y lo colocaron sobre un lecho lleno de perfumes y diversas clases de especias aromáticas, muy bien preparadas. En su honor encendieron una enorme hoguera.

16 ¶ In the year thirty-six of the reign of Asa, Baasha, king of Israel, came up against Judah and built Ramah, to the intent that he might let no one go out or come in to Asa, king of Judah.
2 Then Asa brought out the silver and the gold out of the treasuries of the house of the LORD and of the king’s house, and sent unto Benhadad, king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying,
3 There is a covenant between me and thee, as there was between my father and thy father; behold, I have sent thee silver and gold; go, break thy league with Baasha, king of Israel, that he may depart from me.
4 And Benhadad hearkened unto King Asa and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel, and they smote Ijon and Dan and Abelmaim and all the store cities of Naphtali.
5 And when Baasha heard it, he left off building of Ramah and let his work cease.
6 Then Asa, the king, took all Judah, and they carried away the stones of Ramah and the timber thereof, with which Baasha was building, and he built Geba and Mizpah with it.
7 ¶ And at that time Hanani, the seer, came to Asa, king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast relied on the king of Syria, and not relied on the LORD thy God, therefore, the host of the king of Syria has escaped out of thy hands.
8 Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubims a huge host, with very many chariots and horsemen? Yet, because thou didst rely on the LORD, he delivered them into thy hand.
9 For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of those whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly, for from now on thou shalt have wars.
10 Then Asa was wroth with the seer and put him in the prison house, for he was in a rage with him because of this thing. And Asa killed some of the people at the same time.
11 And, behold, the acts of Asa, first and last, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
12 And Asa in the year thirty-nine of his reign was diseased from his feet up; yet in his disease he did not seek the LORD, but the physicians.
13 And Asa slept with his fathers and died in the year forty-one of his reign.
14 And they buried him in his own sepulchres, which he had made for himself in the city of David, and laid him in the bed which was filled with sweet odours and aromas prepared by the apothecaries’ art; and they made a very great burning for him.

Asa’s Last Years(A)(B)
16 In the thirty-sixth year of Asa’s reign Baasha(C) king of Israel went up against Judah and fortified Ramah to prevent anyone from leaving or entering the territory of Asa king of Judah.
2 Asa then took the silver and gold out of the treasuries of the Lord’s temple and of his own palace and sent it to Ben-Hadad king of Aram, who was ruling in Damascus.(D) 3 “Let there be a treaty(E) between me and you,” he said, “as there was between my father and your father. See, I am sending you silver and gold. Now break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel so he will withdraw from me.”
4 Ben-Hadad agreed with King Asa and sent the commanders of his forces against the towns of Israel. They conquered Ijon, Dan, Abel Maim[a] and all the store cities of Naphtali.(F) 5 When Baasha heard this, he stopped building Ramah and abandoned his work. 6 Then King Asa brought all the men of Judah, and they carried away from Ramah the stones and timber Baasha had been using. With them he built up Geba and Mizpah.(G)
7 At that time Hanani(H) the seer came to Asa king of Judah and said to him: “Because you relied(I) on the king of Aram and not on the Lord your God, the army of the king of Aram has escaped from your hand. 8 Were not the Cushites[b](J) and Libyans a mighty army with great numbers(K) of chariots and horsemen[c]? Yet when you relied on the Lord, he delivered(L) them into your hand. 9 For the eyes(M) of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. You have done a foolish(N) thing, and from now on you will be at war.(O)”
10 Asa was angry with the seer because of this; he was so enraged that he put him in prison.(P) At the same time Asa brutally oppressed some of the people.
11 The events of Asa’s reign, from beginning to end, are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel. 12 In the thirty-ninth year of his reign Asa was afflicted(Q) with a disease in his feet. Though his disease was severe, even in his illness he did not seek(R) help from the Lord,(S) but only from the physicians. 13 Then in the forty-first year of his reign Asa died and rested with his ancestors. 14 They buried him in the tomb that he had cut out for himself(T) in the City of David. They laid him on a bier covered with spices and various blended perfumes,(U) and they made a huge fire(V) in his honor.
