3 Pinasisimulan baga naming muli na ipagkapuri ang aming sarili? o kami baga ay nangangailangan gaya ng iba, ng mga sulat na papuri sa inyo, o mula sa inyo?

²Kayo ay ang aming sulat, na nasusulat sa aming mga puso, nakikilala at nababasa ng lahat ng mga tao;

³Yamang nahahayag na kayo'y sulat ni Cristo, na pinangasiwaan namin, hindi isinulat ng tinta, kundi ng Espiritu, ng Dios na buhay, hindi sa mga tapyas ng bato, kundi sa mga tapyas ng pusong laman.

⁴At ang gayong pagkakatiwala sa Dios ay taglay namin sa pamamagitan ni Cristo:

⁵Hindi sa kami ay sapat na sa aming sarili, upang isiping ang anoman ay mula sa ganang aming sarili; kundi ang aming kasapatan ay mula sa Dios;

⁶Na sa amin naman ay nagpapaging sapat na mga ministro ng bagong tipan; hindi ng titik, kundi ng espiritu: sapagka't ang titik ay pumapatay, datapuwa't ang espiritu ay nagbibigay ng buhay.

⁷Nguni't kung ang pangangasiwa ng kamatayan, na nasusulat, at nauukit sa mga bato, ay nangyaring may kaluwalhatian, ano pa't ang mga anak ni Israel ay hindi makatitig sa mukha ni Moises, dahil sa kaluwalhatian ng kaniyang mukha; na ang kaluwalhatiang ito'y lumilipas:

⁸Paanong hindi lalong magkakaroon ng kaluwalhatian ang pangangasiwa ng espiritu?

⁹Sapagka't kung ang pangangasiwa ng kahatulan ay may kaluwalhatian, ay bagkus pa ngang higit na sagana sa kaluwalhatian ang pangasiwang ukol sa katuwiran.

¹⁰Sapagka't katotohanang ang pinaluwalhati ay hindi pinaluwalhati sa bagay na ito, ng dahil sa kaluwalhatiang sumasagana.

¹¹Sapagka't kung ang lumilipas ay may kaluwalhatian, ay lalo pang nananatili ay nasa kaluwalhatian.

¹²Yaman ngang mayroong gayong pagasa ay ginagamit namin ang buong katapangan ng pananalita,

¹³At hindi gaya ni Moises, na nagtalukbong ng kaniyang mukha upang ang mga anak ni Israel ay huwag magsititig sa katapusan niyaong lumilipas:

¹⁴Datapuwa't ang kanilang mga pagiisip ay nagsitigas: sapagka't hanggang sa araw na ito, pagka binabasa ang matandang tipan, ang talukbong ding iyon ay nananatili na hindi itinataas, na ito'y naalis sa pamamagitan ni Cristo.

¹⁵Datapuwa't hanggang sa araw na ito, kailan ma't binabasa ang mga aklat ni Moises, ay may isang talukbong na nakatakip sa kanilang puso.

¹⁶Nguni't kailan ma't magbalik sa Panginoon, ay maaalis ang talukbong.

¹⁷Ngayon ang Panginoon ay siyang Espiritu: at kung saan naroroon ang Espiritu ng Panginoon, doon ay may kalayaan.

¹⁸Datapuwa't tayong lahat, na walang talukbong ang mukha na tumitinging gaya ng sa isang salamin sa kaluwalhatian ng Panginoon, ay nababago tayo sa gayon ding larawan mula sa kaluwalhatian hanggang sa kaluwalhatian, na gaya ng mula sa Panginoon na Espiritu.

3 Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?

²Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:

³Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.

⁴And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:

⁵Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;

⁶Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

⁷But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:

⁸How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?

⁹For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.

¹⁰For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth.

¹¹For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious.

¹²Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:

¹³And not as Moses, which put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:

¹⁴But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.

¹⁵But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.

¹⁶Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.

¹⁷Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

¹⁸But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

3 Are we beginning to commend ourselves^(A) again? Or do we need, like some people, letters of recommendation^(B) to you or from you? ²You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone.^(C) ³You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God,^(D) not on tablets of stone^(E) but on tablets of human hearts.^(F)

⁴Such confidence^(G) we have through Christ before God. ⁵Not that we are competent in ourselves^(H) to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God.^(I) ⁶He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant^(J)—not of the letter^(K) but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.^(L)

The Greater Glory of the New Covenant

⁷Now if the ministry that brought death,^(M) which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory,^(N) transitory though it was, ⁸will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious? ⁹If the ministry that brought condemnation^(O) was glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness!^(P) ¹⁰For what was glorious has no glory now in comparison with the surpassing glory. ¹¹And if what was transitory came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts!

¹²Therefore, since we have such a hope,^(Q) we are very bold.^(R) ¹³We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face^(S) to prevent the Israelites from seeing the end of what was passing away. ¹⁴But their minds were made dull,^(T) for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant^(U) is read.^(V) It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away. ¹⁵Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. ¹⁶But whenever anyone turns to the Lord,^(W) the veil is taken away.^(X) ¹⁷Now the Lord is the Spirit,^(Y) and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.^(Z) ¹⁸And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate^[a]^(AA) the Lord’s glory,^(AB) are being transformed into his image^(AC) with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
