7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, (A)not reluctantly or under compulsion, for (B)God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And (C)God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency[a] in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. 9 As it is written,
(D)“He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor;
his righteousness endures forever.”

7 Ieder moet voor zichzelf uitmaken hoeveel hij zal geven. Dwing niemand iets te geven, want dan doet hij het met tegenzin. God houdt ervan dat u met een blij hart geeft. 8 God geeft zijn genade in overvloed, zodat u niet alleen zelf alles krijgt wat nodig is, maar het ook royaal met anderen kunt delen. 9 Het staat zo in de Boeken: ‘Hij geeft veel weg aan de armen, zijn rechtvaardig handelen houdt voor altijd stand.’
