⁶ But God, who encourages the downcast, encouraged us by the arrival of Titus,^{(A) 7} and not only by his arrival but also by the encouragement with which he was encouraged in regard to you, as he told us of your yearning, your lament, your zeal for me, so that I rejoiced even more.

¹³ For this reason we are encouraged.

And besides our encouragement,^[a] we rejoice even more because of the joy of Titus, since his spirit has been refreshed by all of you.

⁶ But just now Timothy has returned to us from you, bringing us the good news of your faith and love, and that you always think kindly of us and long to see us as we long to see you. ⁷ Because of this, we have been reassured about you, brothers, in our every distress and affliction, through your faith. ⁸ For we now live, if you stand firm in the Lord.

¹⁶ May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting encouragement and good hope through his grace,
