⁶ But ^(A)God, who comforts the downcast, ^(B)comforted us by the coming of Titus,

God of All Comfort

^3 (A)Blessed be the ^(B)God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and ^(C)God of all comfort, ^4 (D)who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

¹⁶ Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, ^(A)who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good ^(B)hope through grace, ¹⁷ comfort your hearts and ^(C)establish them in every good work and word.

¹³ Therefore ^(A)we are comforted.

And besides our own comfort, we rejoiced still more at the joy of Titus, because his spirit ^(B)has been refreshed by you all.

² Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul. ³ For ^(A)I rejoiced greatly when the brothers^[a] came and testified to your truth, as indeed you are walking in the truth. ⁴ I have no greater joy than to hear that ^(B)my children are walking in the truth.

Timothy's Encouraging Report

⁶ But ^(A)now that Timothy has come to us from you, and has brought us the good news of ^(B)your faith and love and reported ^(C)that you always remember us kindly and ^(D)long to see us, as we long to see you— ⁷ for this reason, brothers,^[a] in all our distress and affliction ^(E)we have been comforted about you through your faith.

² and we ^(A)sent Timothy, ^(B)our brother and God's coworker^[a] in the gospel of Christ, to establish and exhort you in your faith,

¹⁷ I rejoice at the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus, because they have made up for ^(A)your absence, ¹⁸ for they ^(B)refreshed my spirit as well as yours. ^(C)Give recognition to such people.
