For what (A)we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with (B)ourselves as your servants[a] for Jesus' sake. For God, who said, (C)“Let light shine out of darkness,” (D)has shone in our hearts to give (E)the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

Treasure in Jars of Clay

But we have this treasure in (F)jars of clay, (G)to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are (H)afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but (I)not forsaken; (J)struck down, but not destroyed; 10 (K)always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, (L)so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our bodies. 11 For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. 12 So (M)death is at work in us, but life in you.

13 Since we have (N)the same spirit of faith according to what has been written, (O)“I believed, and so I spoke,” we also believe, and so we also speak, 14 knowing that (P)he who raised the Lord Jesus (Q)will raise us also with Jesus and (R)bring us with you into his presence. 15 For (S)it is all for your sake, so that as (T)grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, (U)to the glory of God.

16 So we do not lose heart. (V)Though our outer self[b] is wasting away, (W)our inner self (X)is being renewed day by day. 17 For (Y)this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, 18 (Z)as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

My Soul Waits for the Lord

A Song of (A)Ascents.

130 Out of (B)the depths I cry to you, O Lord!
    O Lord, hear my voice!
(C)Let your ears be attentive
to (D)the voice of my pleas for mercy!

If you, O Lord, should (E)mark iniquities,
    O Lord, who could (F)stand?
But with you there is (G)forgiveness,
    (H)that you may be feared.

I (I)wait for the Lord, (J)my soul waits,
    and (K)in his word I hope;
my soul (L)waits for the Lord
more than (M)watchmen for (N)the morning,
more than watchmen for the morning.

O Israel, (O)hope in the Lord!
For (P)with the Lord there is steadfast love,
and with him is plentiful redemption.
And he will (Q)redeem Israel
    from all his iniquities.
