⁵ For what ^(A)we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ^(B)ourselves as your servants^[a] for Jesus' sake.

²⁴ Not that we ^(A)lord it over your faith, but we work with you for your joy, for you stand firm ^(B)in your faith.

^5 (A)For we never came with words of flattery,^[a] as you know, nor with a pretext for greed—^(B)God is witness. ^6 (C)Nor did we seek glory from people, whether from you or from others, ^(D)though we could have made ^(E)demands as ^(F)apostles of Christ.

²³ but we preach Christ ^(A)crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles,

¹¹ and ^(A)every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is ^(B)Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

¹³ For you were called to freedom, brothers. ^(A)Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love ^(B)serve one another.

³ And ^(A)in their greed they will exploit you ^(B)with false words. ^(C)Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

^2 (A)shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight,^{[a] (B)}not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you;^{[b] (C)}not for shameful gain, but eagerly; ³ not ^(D)domineering over those in your charge, but ^(E)being examples to the flock. ⁴ And when ^(F)the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the ^(G)unfading ^(H)crown of glory. ⁵ Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. ^(I)Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for ^(J)“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

¹¹ They must be silenced, since ^(A)they are upsetting whole families by teaching ^(B)for shameful gain what they ought not to teach.
