Reaffirm Your Love
2 But I made up my mind not to grieve you with another painful visit. 2 For if I cause you grief [by a well-deserved rebuke], who then provides me enjoyment but the very one whom I have made sad? 3 And I [a]wrote this same thing to you, so that when I came, I would not be filled with sorrow by those who ought to make me glad, for I trusted in you and felt confident that my joy would be shared by all of you. 4 For I wrote to you out of great distress and with an anguished heart, and with many tears, not to cause you sorrow but to make you realize the [overflowing] love which I have especially for you.
5 But if [b]someone has caused [all this] sorrow, he has caused it not to me, but in some degree—not to put it too severely—[he has distressed and grieved] all of you. 6 For such a one this punishment by the majority is sufficient, 7 so instead [of further rebuke, now] you should rather [graciously] forgive and comfort and encourage him, to keep him from being overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. 8 Therefore I urge you to reinstate him in your affections and reaffirm your [c]love for him. 9 For this was my purpose in writing, to see if you would stand the test, whether you are obedient and committed to following my instruction in all things. 10 If you forgive anyone anything, I too forgive [that one]; and what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, has been for your sake in the presence of [and with the approval of] Christ, 11 to keep Satan from taking advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his schemes.
12 Now when I arrived at Troas to preach the good news of Christ, even though a door [of opportunity] opened for me in the Lord, 13 my spirit could not rest because I did not find my brother Titus there; so saying goodbye to them, I left for Macedonia.
14 But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us spreads and makes evident everywhere the sweet fragrance of the knowledge of Him. 15 For we are the sweet fragrance of Christ [which ascends] to God, [discernible both] among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing; 16 to the latter one an aroma from death to death [a fatal, offensive odor], but to the other an aroma from life to life [a vital fragrance, living and fresh]. And who is adequate and sufficiently qualified for these things? 17 For we are not like many, [acting like merchants] peddling God’s word [shortchanging and adulterating God’s message]; but from pure [uncompromised] motives, as [commissioned and sent] from God, we speak [His message] in Christ in the sight of God.

- 2 Corinthians 2:3 Many scholars believe the contents of the communication to which Paul refers in this verse are implied within vv 5-11, and again in 7:5-12.
- 2 Corinthians 2:5 The incident and offender to which Paul is referring is unclear, but it may have involved some affront or challenge to Paul’s position or authority during his visit to Corinth.
- 2 Corinthians 2:8 The key to understanding this and other statements about love is to know that this love (the Greek word agape) is not so much a matter of emotion as it is of doing things for the benefit of another person, that is, having an unselfish concern for another and a willingness to seek the best for other believers.

愛之深責之切
2 我已經決定了，下次到你們那裡時不再使大家憂傷。 2 如果我使你們憂傷，那麼除了因我而憂傷的你們，還有誰能使我喜樂呢？ 3 我曾為這事寫信給你們，免得我到你們那裡時，那些本該使我喜樂的人反而使我憂傷。我也深信你們會以我的喜樂為你們的喜樂。 4 我萬分難過、淚流滿面地給你們寫了前一封信，並非要使你們憂傷，而是要你們明白我是多麼疼愛你們。
要饒恕犯罪的人
5 那個令人痛心的人與其說使我憂傷，倒不如說使你們大家都有幾分憂傷。我只說幾分憂傷，是怕說得太重，他受不了。 6 這樣的人受了眾人的譴責也就夠了。 7 你們現在要饒恕他、安慰他，免得他憂傷過度而一蹶不振。 8 我勸你們要讓他確實知道你們仍然愛他。 9 為此，我也曾寫信給你們，想知道你們是否凡事順服。 10 你們饒恕誰，我也饒恕誰。我若饒恕，是為了你們的緣故在基督面前饒恕的， 11 免得撒旦乘虛而入，因為我們並非不知道牠的詭計。
基督的香氣
12 我前往特羅亞傳揚基督的福音時，主為我打開了傳福音的大門。 13 那時，因為沒有找到提多弟兄，我心裡不安，便辭別眾人來到馬其頓。
14 感謝上帝！祂常常在基督裡率領我們走在凱旋的行列中，又藉著我們到處散發那因認識基督而有的香氣。 15 不論是在得救的人當中還是在滅亡的人當中，對上帝來說，我們都是基督的馨香之氣。 16 對滅亡的人而言，這香氣是叫人死亡的香氣；對得救的人來說，這香氣卻是叫人得生命的香氣。誰能擔當這樣的重任呢？ 17 我們並不像許多人為了謀利而出賣上帝的道。我們是上帝差遣的，在上帝面前靠著基督誠誠實實地講道。

2 Am hotărât dar în mine să(A) nu mă întorc la voi cu întristare. 2 Căci, dacă vă întristez, de la cine să mă aştept la bucurie, dacă nu de la cel întristat de mine? 3 Şi v-am scris cum v-am scris, ca, la venirea mea, să(B) n-am întristare din partea celor ce trebuiau să-mi facă bucurie şi sunt(C) încredinţat, cu privire la voi toţi, că bucuria mea este bucuria voastră a tuturor. 4 V-am scris cu multă mâhnire şi strângere de inimă, cu ochii scăldaţi în lacrimi, nu(D) ca să vă întristaţi, ci ca să vedeţi dragostea nespus de mare pe care o am faţă de voi.
Iertarea celui pedepsit
5 Dacă(E) a fost cineva o pricină de întristare, nu m-a(F) întristat numai pe mine, ci pe voi toţi; cel puţin în parte, ca să nu spun prea mult. 6 Este destul pentru omul acesta pedeapsa care i-a fost dată de(G) cei mai mulţi; 7 aşa că acum(H) este mai bine să-l iertaţi şi să-l mângâiaţi, ca să nu fie doborât de prea multă mâhnire. 8 De aceea, vă rog să vă arătaţi iarăşi dragostea faţă de el, 9 căci v-am scris şi cu gândul ca să vă pun la încercare şi să văd dacă sunteţi(I) ascultători în totul. 10 Dar pe cine iertaţi voi, îl iert şi eu. În adevăr, ce am iertat eu – dacă am iertat ceva – am iertat pentru voi, în faţa lui Hristos, 11 ca să nu lăsăm pe Satana să aibă un câştig de la noi, căci nu suntem în neştiinţă despre planurile lui. 12 Când am ajuns(J) la Troa pentru Evanghelia lui Hristos, măcar că mi se deschisese acolo o uşă(K) în Domnul, 13 n-am(L) avut linişte în duhul meu, fiindcă n-am găsit pe fratele meu Tit, de aceea mi-am luat ziua bună de la fraţi şi am plecat în Macedonia.
Slujba apostolului
14 Mulţumiri fie aduse lui Dumnezeu, care ne poartă totdeauna cu carul Lui de biruinţă în Hristos şi care răspândeşte prin noi în orice loc mireasma(M) cunoştinţei Lui. 15 În adevăr, noi suntem înaintea lui Dumnezeu o mireasmă a lui Hristos printre(N) cei ce sunt pe calea mântuirii şi printre(O) cei ce sunt pe calea pierzării: 16 pentru aceştia(P), o mireasmă de la moarte spre moarte; pentru aceia, o mireasmă de la viaţă spre viaţă. Şi cine(Q) este de ajuns pentru aceste lucruri? 17 Căci noi nu stricăm(R) Cuvântul lui Dumnezeu, cum fac cei mai mulţi, ci vorbim cu inimă curată, din partea lui Dumnezeu, înaintea lui Dumnezeu, în Hristos.
