5 Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. (A)Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that (B)Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test! 6 I hope you will find out that we have not failed the test. 7 But we pray to God that you may not do wrong—not that we may appear to have met the test, but that you may do what is right, though we may seem to have failed. 8 For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth.

38 (A)John said to him, “Teacher, we saw someone (B)casting out demons in your name,[a] and (C)we tried to stop him, because he was not following us.” 39 But Jesus said, “Do not stop him, for no one who does a mighty work in my name will be able soon afterward to speak evil of me. 40 (D)For the one who is not against us is for us. 41 For truly, I say to you, (E)whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ will by no means lose his reward.
