⁵ So I thought it necessary to urge the brothers to go on ahead to you and arrange in advance for this bountiful gift that you have promised, so that it may be ready as a bountiful gift and not as an extortion.

²⁷ And now let this present that your servant has brought to my lord be given to the young men who follow my lord.

¹¹ Please accept my gift that is brought to you, because God has dealt graciously with me and because I have everything I want.” So he urged him, and he took it.^(A)

¹⁷ Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the profit^[a] that accumulates to your account.^(A)

¹⁷ Did I take advantage of you through any of those whom I sent to you? ¹⁸ I urged Titus to go and sent the brother with him. Titus did not take advantage of you, did he? Did we not conduct ourselves with the same spirit? Did we not walk in the same footsteps?^(A)

⁶ so that we might urge Titus that, as he had already made a beginning, so he should also complete this generous undertaking^[a] among you.^(A)

² On the first day of every week, each of you is to put aside and save whatever extra you earn, so that collections need not be taken when I come.^(A)
