¹² For the ministry of this service is not only supplying ^(A)the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God.

¹⁴ your abundance at the present time should supply ^(A)their need, so that their abundance may supply your need, that there may be fairness. ¹⁵ As it is written, ^(B)“Whoever gathered much had nothing left over, and whoever gathered little had no lack.”

²⁵ I have thought it necessary to send to you ^(A)Epaphroditus my brother and fellow worker and ^(B)fellow soldier, and your messenger and ^(C)minister to my need,

¹⁷ But ^(A)if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet ^(B)closes his heart against him, ^(C)how does God's love abide in him?

Faith Without Works Is Dead

¹⁴ What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith ^(A)but does not have works? Can that faith save him? ^15 (B)If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, ^16 (C)and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good^[a] is that?

Philemon's Love and Faith

^4 (A)I thank my God always when I remember you in my prayers, ⁵ because I ^(B)hear of your love and ^(C)of the faith that you have toward the Lord Jesus and for all the saints, ⁶ and I pray that the sharing of your faith may become effective for the full ^(D)knowledge of every good thing that is in us for the sake of Christ.^{[a] 7} For I have derived much joy and ^(E)comfort from your love, my brother, because the hearts of the saints ^(F)have been refreshed through you.

¹⁸ I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, ^(A)having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, ^(B)a fragrant offering, ^(C)a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God. ¹⁹ And my God ^(D)will supply every need of yours ^(E)according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
