¹² For the administration of this service not only ^(A)supplies the needs of the saints, but also is abounding through many thanksgivings to God,

¹⁷ But ^(A)whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?

Faith Without Works Is Dead^(A)

^14 (B)What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? ^15 (C)If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, ¹⁶ and ^(D)one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?

Philemon’s Love and Faith

^4 (A)I thank my God, making mention of you always in my prayers, ^5 (B)hearing of your love and faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus and toward all the saints, ⁶ that the sharing of your faith may become effective ^(C)by the acknowledgment of ^(D)every good thing which is in ^[a]you in Christ Jesus. ⁷ For we ^[b]have great ^[c]joy and ^[d]consolation in your love, because the ^[e]hearts of the saints have been refreshed by you, brother.

¹⁸ Indeed I ^[a]have all and abound. I am full, having received from ^(A)Epaphroditus the things sent from you, ^(B)a sweet-smelling aroma, ^(C)an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God. ¹⁹ And my God ^(D)shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Epaphroditus Praised

²⁵ Yet I considered it necessary to send to you ^(A)Epaphroditus, my brother, fellow worker, and ^(B)fellow soldier, ^(C)but your messenger and ^(D)the one who ministered to my need;

Administering the Gift

9 Now concerning ^(A)the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you;

¹⁴ but by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may supply their lack, that their abundance also may supply your lack—that there may be equality. ¹⁵ As it is written, ^(A)“He who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack.”

⁴ imploring us with much urgency ^[a]that we would receive the gift and ^(A)the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.
