³ I do not say this to condemn; for ^(A)I have said before that you are in our hearts, to die together and to live together.

Be Holy

¹¹ O Corinthians! ^[a]We have spoken openly to you, ^(A)our heart is wide open. ¹² You are not restricted by us, but ^(B)you are restricted by your own affections.

⁸ So, affectionately longing for you, we were well pleased ^(A)to impart to you not only the gospel of God, but also ^(B)our own lives, because you had become dear to us.

⁸ For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ.

⁹ And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment,

^10 (A)Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the ^(B)authority which the Lord has given me for edification and not for destruction.

¹⁵ And I will very gladly spend and be spent ^(A)for your souls; though ^(B)the more abundantly I love you, the less I am loved.

¹¹ Why? ^(A)Because I do not love you? God knows!

¹² Therefore, although I wrote to you, I did not do it for the sake of him who had done the wrong, nor for the sake of him who suffered wrong, ^(A)but that our care for you in the sight of God might appear to you.

^2 (A)You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men;

⁴ For out of much ^[a]affliction and anguish of heart I wrote to you, with many tears, ^(A)not that you should be grieved, but that you might know the love which I have so abundantly for you.

⁵ But ^(B)if anyone has caused grief, he has not ^(C)grieved me, but all of you to some extent—not to be too severe.
