³ I do not say this to condemn you, for I said before that ^(A)you are in our hearts, to die together and to live together.

¹¹ We have spoken freely to you,^[a] Corinthians; ^(A)our heart is wide open. ¹² You are not restricted by us, but ^(B)you are restricted in your own affections.

⁸ So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God ^(A)but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us.

⁸ For ^(A)God is my witness, ^(B)how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus. ⁹ And it is my prayer that ^(C)your love may abound more and more, ^(D)with knowledge and all discernment,

¹⁰ For this reason I write these things while I am away from you, that when I come ^(A)I may not have to be ^(B)severe in my use of ^(C)the authority that the Lord has given me for building up and not for tearing down.

^15 (A)I will most gladly spend and be spent for your souls. If ^(B)I love you more, am I to be loved less?

¹¹ And why? ^(A)Because I do not love you? ^(B)God knows I do!

¹² So although I wrote to you, it was not for the sake of the one ^(A)who did the wrong, nor for the sake of the one who suffered the wrong, but in order that your earnestness for us might be revealed to you in the sight of God.

^2 (A)You yourselves are our letter of recommendation, written on our^[a] hearts, to be known and read by all.

⁴ For ^(A)I wrote to you out of much affliction and anguish of heart and with many tears, not to cause you pain but to let you know the abundant love that I have for you.

Forgive the Sinner

⁵ Now ^(B)if anyone has caused pain, ^(C)he has caused it not to me, but ^(D)in some measure—not to put it too severely—to all of you.
