¹⁰ For ^(A)godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas ^(B)worldly grief produces death.

¹⁸ When they heard these things they fell silent. And they ^(A)glorified God, saying, ^(B)“Then to the Gentiles also God has ^(C)granted ^(D)repentance that leads to life.”

^19 (A)Repent therefore, and ^(B)turn back, that ^(C)your sins may be blotted out,

^13 (A)David said to Nathan, ^(B)“I have sinned against the Lord.” And Nathan said to David, ^(C)“The Lord also has put away your sin; you shall not die.

²⁵ correcting his opponents ^(A)with gentleness. God ^(B)may perhaps grant them repentance ^(C)leading to a knowledge of the truth, ²⁶ and they may come to their senses and escape from ^(D)the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.

⁴⁷ yet ^(A)if they turn their heart in the land to which they have been carried captive, and repent and plead with you in the land of their captors, saying, ^(B)‘We have sinned and have acted perversely and wickedly,’ ^48 (C)if they repent with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their enemies, who carried them captive, and pray to you ^(D)toward their land, which you gave to their fathers, the city that you have chosen, and the house that I have built for your name, ⁴⁹ then hear in heaven your dwelling place their prayer and their plea, and maintain their cause ⁵⁰ and forgive your people who have sinned against you, and all their transgressions that they have committed against you, and ^(E)grant them compassion in the sight of those who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on them

¹⁰ Just so, I tell you, there is joy before ^(A)the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

¹³ But the tax collector, ^(A)standing far off, ^(B)would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but ^(C)beat his breast, saying, ‘God, ^(D)be merciful to me, a sinner!’

⁷⁵ And Peter remembered the saying of Jesus, ^(A)“Before the rooster crows, you will ^(B)deny me three times.” And he went out and wept bitterly.
