³ if indeed by putting it on^[a] we may not be found naked.

^7 (A)Then the eyes of both were opened, ^(B)and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths.

⁸ And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool^[a] of the day, and the man and his wife ^(C)hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. ⁹ But the Lord God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?”^{[b] 10} And he said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, ^(D)because I was naked, and I hid myself.” ¹¹ He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?”

¹⁵ (“Behold, ^(A)I am coming like a thief! ^(B)Blessed is the one who stays awake, keeping his garments on, ^(C)that he may not go about naked and be seen exposed!”)

¹⁸ I counsel you ^(A)to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and ^(B)white garments so that you may clothe yourself and ^(C)the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, ^(D)so that you may see.

²⁵ And when Moses saw that the people had broken loose (for Aaron had let them break loose, ^(A)to the derision of their enemies),
