¹³ not like Moses, ^(A)who would put a veil over his face so that the Israelites might not gaze at the outcome of what was being brought to an end.

³³ And when Moses had finished speaking with them, he put a ^(A)veil over his face.

³⁴ Whenever Moses ^(B)went in before the Lord to speak with him, he would remove the veil, until he came out. And when he came out and told the people of Israel what he was commanded, ³⁵ the people of Israel would see the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face was ^(C)shining. And Moses would put the veil over his face again, until he went in to speak with him.

⁷ Now if ^(A)the ministry of death, carved in letters on stone, came with such glory ^(B)that the Israelites could not gaze at Moses' face because of its glory, which was being brought to an end,

¹⁴ For ^(A)he himself is our peace, ^(B)who has made us both one and has broken down ^(C)in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility ¹⁵ by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ^(D)ordinances, that he might create in himself one ^(E)new man in place of the two, so making peace,

Christ's Sacrifice Once for All

10 For since the law has but ^(A)a shadow ^(B)of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, ^(C)it can never, by the same sacrifices that are continually offered every year, make perfect those who draw near. ² Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, since the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have any consciousness of sins? ³ But ^(D)in these sacrifices ^(E)there is a reminder of sins every year. ⁴ For ^(F)it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.

⁵ Consequently, ^(G)when Christ^[a] came into the world, he said,

⁸ When he said above, “You have neither desired nor taken pleasure in ^(I)sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings” (these are offered according to the law), ⁹ then he added, ^(J)“Behold, I have come to do your will.” He does away with the first in order to establish the second.

^17 (A)These are a shadow of the things to come, but ^(B)the substance belongs to Christ.

²³ Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, ^(A)imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed. ²⁴ So then, ^(B)the law was our ^(C)guardian until Christ came, ^(D)in order that we might be justified by faith.

⁴ For ^(A)Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.^[a]
