² For if I cause you grief, who will make me glad? Certainly not someone I have grieved.

⁸ I am not sorry that I sent that severe letter to you, though I was sorry at first, for I know it was painful to you for a little while.

¹⁴ even if you don’t understand us now. Then on the day when the Lord Jesus^[a] returns, you will be proud of us in the same way we are proud of you.

²⁶ If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad.

²⁹ Who is weak without my feeling that weakness? Who is led astray, and I do not burn with anger?
